Meet Sierra Peloian

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sierra Peloian. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sierra, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I was born a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and empath, and have always felt from a young age that my deeper purpose would be revealed to me later in life, but would inevitably be unleashed. The path to discovering this unique gift has been colored with trauma, CPTSD, depression, anxiety, creativity, isolation, masking, and an abundance of introspective exploration.

I had trouble making sense of what was happening in my internal world – mind an body included. I often felt misunderstood, different, and less than most people. I was slow, methodical, emotional, feeling, and a deep thinker. This did not play well with being popular, so I put on a mask to fit in. I wore this mask for decades until the exhaustion of trying to fit in to a world that did not seem to have a place for me took over.

I began therapy at age 25 and spent the better half of two decades digging into my unconscious mind. I have always been naturally analytical so this was almost a treat for me. During this process I was able to uncover some hidden belief systems and have a better understanding of how my trauma in childhood effected me. This catapulted me into another form of healing, and I began to see an energy healer who assisted me in connecting more deeply to my somatic body. My subtle body was beginning to “wake up,” and I couldn’t help but feel a life force nudging me in the direction of the spiritual, metaphysical, and energetic realms.

After 20 years in a career as a hairstylist (one that I had always had mixed feelings about), I started thinking differently about how to approach this deep calling within. With the assistance of the pandemic and everything going virtual, my husband, daughter, and I sold our home in Los Angeles, and moved to Santa Fe, NM. I felt inexplicably deeply drawn to this land of enchantment – a place we had never physically been to. But I had a “knowing.”

After moving, I took a much needed break from doing hair and began to study Reiki – the ancient Japanese form of energy healing. I received my Reiki 1 an 2 Certifications, began to practice on individuals, and discovered my psychic abilities. I knew this was my calling. I was juicing to start my reiki business and idealistically believed it would just happen. I was wrong – because the universe was teaching me to be patient and trust divine timing.

Little did I know, the next two years would be some of the most challenging and life altering moments in my life. I fell into one of the worst depressive periods I had experienced in years, and it seemed as if everything I once thought I knew was crumbling. I was going through an initiation process, and a shedding of old self. Inevitably, I was brought back to my reiki practice for self healing. I began the training for my reiki master certification, which ultimately brought about more dark night of the soul episodes. These were followed by the most profound healing, knowing, deeper trusting of myself, my gifts, and the divine interplay of the cosmos. A power within me began to rise, and I began to release all the old narratives of who I was supposed to be in order to embody the person I am.

I find so much joy in helping others discover their deepest truth and innate power. My goal as a reiki healer and psychic guide is to help illuminate joy and internal strength in others. I see my role as holding space, while helping to uncover unconscious blocks, and release trauma from the body. I teach clients to listen to their innate wisdom and become the creators of their reality in order to live a truly authentic life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am currently in the process of receiving my Reiki Master Certification. In addition I am studying Internal Family Systems, Kabbalah, Chakra Systems, and other modalities of spiritual, somatic, and psychological healing. The most exciting part of my work is helping clients understand themselves better in order to live their most authentic lives. I am able to tap into the energies of the subtle body in order to find blockages and/or misalignments that need recalibration in order for the system to function more harmoniously. The Reiki healing offers clients a chance to be held in a noninvasive fashion, allow for nervous system regulation, deep relaxation, and embodiment. To a certain degree, we all wear masks or armor around us that are meant to protect, but inevitably over time create imbalance and can cause disease, illness, depression, anxiety, and other ailments. My purpose is to help clients reveal blockages, release old belief systems, and remember their true nature in order to experience more joy, passion, and abundance in their life.

I offer both distance healing sessions, as well as in person. In addition, I offer group healing sessions several times a year. If you are a beginner to somatic body work or energy healing and you’d like to invest in your wellbeing, I offer a Beginners Guide to Connecting with Your Body on my website.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most important qualities that have impacted my journey are my curiosity, self awareness, and feeling deeply. If you are early in your journey, the most important thing to do is be curious about yourself, others, ask questions, and slow down in order to truly hear the answers.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I know that my nervous system needs some serious love. Some of my favorite practices for myself include 4-7-8 breathing, moving the energy from head to feet (grounding), getting out in nature, releasing stagnant energy through shaking or wiping it off my body, and performing energy work on myself in the shower.
