Meet Simeon Henderson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Simeon Henderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Simeon below.

Simeon, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I developed my confidence and self-esteem through experience, pain, and perseverance. I overcame illiteracy, bullying, and physical abuse from my stepfather—but my mother’s words shaped me. She taught me never to let someone’s opinion of me become my reality, and that I was worthy of success and happiness. That lesson became my foundation. No matter what I encountered, I carried that belief in my heart. Sports became my outlet—a place where I could channel my energy, my frustration, and my drive to win. And as I grew, I realized that my personality and my willingness to help others opened more doors than I ever imagined. My confidence wasn’t given to me, I built it, one challenge at a time. And every obstacle I overcame reminded me that I was destined for more.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m an actor, author, motivational speaker, mentor and Life coach. I’ve been in the Screen Actors Guild since 2005. I love acting because it gave me the outlet I needed to express myself and release a lot of hurt and trauma I endured over the years while entertaining and helping others through the arts. My passion to help others led me to my purpose of motivating, inspiring and educating people to be their best. You see acting is my passion but, people are my purpose. I was inspired to have my our word with its definition and meaning. BESIMBOLIC “Simply Your Best” ~Being Deeply Rooted Stimulates Growth~ This has been my saying for at least 15 years now and it has helped and inspired so many people young and older. People wear the T-shirts, Hoodies, Hats etc as a sign and symbol and reminder to always BE YOUR BEST. I started the BESIMBOLIC FOUNDATION www.besimbolicfoundation.org where we mentor and support the youth and I’ve given scholarships to Highschool seniors for the past 6 years. Encouraging and helping the youth as they pursue and further their education. The scholarship is in honor of my late mother Emma K. Wideman who was also an educator. I’ve written several books “Through The Eyes Of A Man” “The 30 Day Refocus Challenge” which are on Amazon. I won best Nonfiction Book at the Black Excellence Awards. I was also voted one of the Top 28 most influential people and community leaders by Hennessy and WGCI in Chicago “The Great 28” I currently have 2 books that are due to release in 2026 and I’m Co-Starring in the TV series “Tyrant” Like Father, Line Son. I’ve Guest Starred on Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Empire and been featured or starred in national commercials and films on BET, Netflix, TUBI and Amazon. One of my dream jobs was being one of the on air personalities for WCIU Channel 26 for 3 Years. I have dedicated myself to motivating people through my Dailey motivational I post on all social media platforms. I was extremely honored and excited to do my first TEDxTALK on “Overcoming Obstacles” available to watch on YOUTUBE “https://youtu.be/DM-CFpQnS8M?si=akYdyOqnWMb5ph4o“ I’m super excited about what’s next and the things that are coming my way and I’m ready to continue leading by example and pushing people to never give up and walk in their purpose and always have faith in who they are. Im so thankful for the opportunity to share my journey and I’m honored to be able to connect to the world through my experiences. Please continue to support my motivational videos, books and movies on Tubi, Amazon Prime and all platforms.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Resilience and overcoming adversity
2. Motivational leadership and communication.
3. Community empowerment and personal development.
These are the qualities that shaped and molded me into the man I am today. I desire to Educated, Inspire and Motivate people to Simply Be Their Best in whatever they choose to do. When you are starting know your why. Have a vision and goals in mind and remember to be patient and take it one step at a time and celebrate the small wins as well as the Big ones. Remember to enjoy the process and not be frustrated when things don’t go exactly as you planned. It will have if you just stay faithful and focused.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My mom was the most helpful and most influential person in my life because she protected me, lead me and guided me towards always doing the right thing. She always encourage me and taught me not to let someone someone’s opinion become my reality and no matter what anyone else said That I was the author and finisher of my fate. She taught me to always work hard and never give up.
