Meet Sivan Maya

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sivan Maya. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sivan , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I think this is such a great question that i’m still exploring. I have always known that i’m meant to be an artist from a very young age. Ever since i was a child, i have had a deep sense that my calling in life is to be an artist. I have always had a strong sense of creativity, enjoying the art of storytelling and the profound impact that stories can have on me, whether they evoke positive or negative emotions. I have mentioned this previously, but the TV show Grey’s Anatomy was the catalyst for my passion – it inspired me to pursue a career where i could save lives, just like how the show saved me.

However, as we grow older and gain more life experience, our purpose within the realm of art may shift and evolve. Currently, i’m certain that my true calling is being an artist, but i understand that the purpose and meaning of my art may transform over the next 50 years. My goal for now is for my art to become timeless, allowing future generations to connect with it long after i’m gone. But who knows what my purpose will be in the next 10 years all i can say is that i’m excited to see where this journey takes me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am currently working on expending my area of expertise in acting by diving into period pieces and comedy, as those are genres, i’m not familiar with yet. My goal is to become a well-rounded actress that can perform at an elite level in any genre i”m asked to do.

In regard to my filmmaking and writing i’m very excited to release my first experimental short film next month. I have 3 short films in the pipeline all ready for pre productions. My goal is to showcase my unique style while exploring diverse storytelling mediums such as poetry, dance, and various filmmaking styles. My vision is to grow my company in an innovative way, blending traditional and non-traditional storytelling to establish myself not just as a narrative filmmaker, but also as a creative director with the ability to convey narratives through different mediums.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Four essential qualities that are crucial for anyone aspiring to be an artist or excel in any field they want to work in is. Passion, dedication, hard work and consistency these are four qualities that have been ingrained in me and have led me to incredible growth. Balancing all of four qualities is really hard and challenging and requires sacrifice and endless effort, but the payoff is truly rewarding. I have had to sacrifice a lot and it’s hard, but i couldn’t be happier that i have done so because the payoff has been nothing but amazing.

I think a very crucial skill to have working in Film and Acting is curiosity. This was a lesson i learned early in my training and has proven invaluable in my journey towards success. I have developed a great passion for acquiring knowledge sense then, whether it be honing new acting techniques, to meeting various people from different background or immersing myself in the unique cultures of Australia and New Zealand. Remaining open to learning is crucial, i always say, always be student. When you are out for a walk or at a café observe people’s behavior you never know if their behavior or movement can prove valuable to your next script or character you are playing.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always looking for people to collaborate with, as i love listening to other people’s journey’s, stories, visions and ideas. I think it’s essential for artist to collaborate, not only for networking purposes, but also to gain new, innovative perspectives. This is especially true when working with people from diverse backgrounds around the globe, which is a primary focus for my company, Gordon Entertainment.

I always look forward to collaborating with people that have a deep sense of passion for their craft whether it be writing, filmmaking or dancing. I want to sit down over a cup of tea and immerse myself in their perspectives and visions. And these are moments when you start blending styles and visions and start creating something impactful and meaningful that can maybe change someone’s life whether it’s just putting a smile on their face or not.
