Meet Skitta Star

We recently connected with Skitta Star and have shared our conversation below.

Skitta, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My positivity comes from GOD. I am a very spiritual person. Especially when I see people that can’t help themselves, I use that to motivate and to keep pushing. I had a down syndrome sister that made me want to help and care for others and stay positive. It made me realize that my heart has to stay warm. I am a person that has lost a lot, but losing a lot has helped me to embrace being in a room by myself and it has helped me to be strong. So through these experiences, I have developed a positive side of myself. From here, I can understand the levels and boundaries of life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica and I am a dancer, performer and a choreographer. I recently won the “Red Bull Dance Your Style” National Finals for Jamaica in September 2023. Winning this battle will now advance me to the World Finals where I will compete in Frankfurt, Germany in November. In addition to performing, I create my own dance steps and teach people from around the world. My goal is to get my segment of dancing to be known by a lot of different people. And to prove to the bigger heads that you do have talented dancers like me in Jamaica. The project that I am working on right now is to get Jamaican dance bigger, meaning the name and style referred to as “Dancehall.” And how am I going to do that?….With full force of my will, teaching with love and through the creation of my movement. This will definitely get my dancing recognized by a larger crowd. I also am a big influencer on TikTok + Instagram and I regularly create dance challenges for people all around the world. I love to inspire people to dance.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1.Take care of your body 2.No smoking
3.Get a lot of rest

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The hurt of losing my dad, grandmother, and sister within 4 years will never go away. I have to learn to live with that for the rest of my life. I listen to music that inspires me to dance and I channel my pain through my dancing. And I see that I can bring positivity in the world with my passion for dancing. That makes me feel good.
