Meet Slideride Funk

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Slideride Funk. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

SlideRide, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

In my opinion, the key to keeping my creativity alive is talking to myself. I’m not talking about thinking questions in my head to myself…ACTUALLY talking out loud to myself. You learn more about yourself when doing so. You yourself is a person, and you never know you just might know the answer to your own question by just asking yourself out loud. Or if that doesn’t work, close your eyes and pray to whoever you pray to, and whatever voice comes first, you listen to it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m SlideRideFunk, A Traveling Performer and a Hip/Hop Lyricist. I play my trombone behind rap and Lofi beats, the genre is called Trap Jazz and Lofi Trombone. When I have time I play my trombone on the streets where I usually make at least over $100 a day. That’s the special thing about my craft. I’m exposing how diverse music really is. That even an instrument can spit bars like a voice. The voice is an instrument.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Listen more, Speak Less.

2. Collaborations. Teaming up with friends and strangers to do shows around the city to keep the vibe ongoing. It also helps you stay relevant as an artist.

3Upgrade. When you show some of your work. Your next project MUST be better than the last, or you’ll be boring QUICK.

Most of these 3 things contribute to A LOT OF OTHER FACTORS, but it will help in the long run of business.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

1 of the most impactful things my parents could have done for me was letting me and my siblings play video games. Most if not ALL of my creativity comes from video games, n which the video games take from real life. Staying connected to your inner child is a key factor in growing up. It’s easy to get lost as an adult. I’m currently 23 years old.
