Meet Sloan Rajadhyksha

We recently connected with Sloan Rajadhyksha and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sloan, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I build my confidence by practicing with integrity, ensuring my actions align with my core values.
Helping others and hearing their gratitude certainly bolsters my self-esteem, but the most
empowering aspect is recognizing my own worth. This understanding reminds me that my value
isn’t dictated by others’ opinions or actions. It’s my choices—especially those made in
challenging moments—that define me. Choosing to do the right thing, even when it’s hard,
allows me to hold my head high and trust in myself.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As optometrists, our mission is to help people see clearly and provide access to comprehensive
eye care. We take pride in serving our community by addressing diverse vision needs and
offering specialized services. What’s especially exciting is our constant growth—we’re always
partnering with new frame lines and adopting the latest technologies to enhance eye exams. It’s
this commitment to innovation and care that makes our work so fulfilling and impactful.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Taking initiative early in my career was invaluable. By diving into the optometric field and
building a strong network, I gained access to advice and opportunities that paved the way for
my journey. Perseverance has also been key. My partner Hunter, in particular, demonstrated this by
handling countless hours of paperwork and permits to create a phenomenal business
plan—efforts that made our practice possible. Even now, his unwavering work ethic inspires me.
Lastly, empathy sets us apart. We strive to connect with our patients on a personal level,
understanding their unique lifestyles to better serve them. For those just starting out, my advice
is to embrace these qualities: take initiative, persevere through challenges, and always lead with
empathy.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

Our biggest professional challenge is educating patients about the importance of eye care.
Many people associate healthy vision with 20/20 eyesight, unaware of the broader functional
and health aspects of their eyes. Increased screen time and near work are contributing to vision
issues like headaches, reduced productivity, and even behavioral problems, which require
intervention to prevent long-term impacts. Additionally, retinal health often goes unnoticed since
the back of the eye lacks pain receptors. We’re working to overcome this challenge through
ongoing patient education, emphasizing the need for comprehensive eye exams to ensure both
functional and ocular health.
