We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Smoke Shelda. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Smoke below.
Hi Smoke, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Many times we think that putting others before ourselves can make us better and in some ways this is the case but in many other cases it is used only for convenience. Every time I feel like I’m the last carriage on the train with no one next to me, there’s music to remind me why I write, to remind me why I get out of bed in the morning But above all it reminds me how to make my heart beat.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Riccardo Ferreo, aka Fers aka Smoke Shelda, artist born on 20 December 2007 in Rome.I started writing shortly after I began to understand the power of Hip-Hop. I released my first mixtape at the age of 15 in June 2023 under the name ‘HowManyTimes Mixtape’ Available on YouTube and SoundCloud. The album talks about blades in the back and the monotony of the environment that surrounds us, but above all about the desire to leave of a boy with a big heart as much as the eyes. The first album with unreleased tracks with the hand of the producer Nemesis and the only collaboration with Mārcy will be released soon. The album will be called Malaterra Ep. Five tracks of outbursts and reflections.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think my greatest skill is that I am a very analytical person. The advice I can give is to never leave out the details in anything and always put your heart into it
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
The person who has helped me and consoled me the most in everything has always been my brother, from music to everyday life which then ends up in a text. I thank him and will thank him forever for teaching me more than a father or a teacher
