Meet Soco Fa Sho

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Soco Fa Sho. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Soco, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I think, listening to music, inspires me to share my message with the world. I draw a lot of inspiration from a lot of sources, and seeing what other people have gone through . How they come out alive with their own success stories of overcoming adversity, makes me think I can offer some hope and inspiration through my music as well. Plus, it’s kinda like therapy, it helps me get stuff off my chest and sing my songs.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Nowadays I sing the Blues, spit a few County Rap Tunes, and jam with as many musicians as I can. It’s music that touches the heart, and is perfect for my voice because I’m not a great singer! Passionately howling my songs like a sad dog left alone is like therapy for the soul to get it all out so to speak. I just completed a Recording Arts Diploma program at The Recording Arts Center at Studio West in San Diego, CA and now I’m enrolled in the Advanced Music Production program at TRAC as well!
So it’s been a busy year in the studio and class room learning about the engineering side as well as music production.
In 2023 alone, I recorded and produced my Hip Hop single Beautiful, a thank you song to the fans and inspirations of mine.
Followed by a full album of Blues and Country Rap Tunes called Cup of Tea. Recorded and released a video for the song Sometimes off said album, A Big Yellow Taxi cover and a Blues single called What Am I To Do to end the year right!
Getting ready for lots of live shows in 2024 to get the music out to the people!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Faith, perseverance, and inspiration. I have faith that my purpose on Earth is to generate the right frequency, bring people together, and leave the place better than I found it. The drive to make music is always there, and the reason changes with situations and circumstances, but knowing I’m here to do this is just inside my soul so I know that I’m doing what I’m here to do. I have faith in that, in me, and in the Creator’s plan for me.
Perseverance is required because nothing seems to go right, especially in our skewed perspective of what we think we need. But learning to accept each situation as an individual unique opportunity to create something better from what we’re dealing with, has helped me keep moving forward.
Inspired people are different. Inspirations hit me all the time from different places or people, or situations. I use these inspirations for song ideas, song lyrics, or even moods and tempo. But my kids are the inspiration to me that remains constant. I’m on a journey to follow my passion and my only hope in all of this is to show them that it is possible to achieve anything in life. So my inspiration is I guess to inspire them. Not necessarily with the words of the songs, tho that would be cool, but showing them that they have a reward for their hard work and chasing their dreams.

My advice for people early in the stages of a music career, listen to the voice inside you that is trying to get you to create. Ignore the negative voice because it will be there too, and just do what you know in your heart you are here to do. know that doesn’t pay the bills, or buy any groceries, or put gas in the tank, but these real problems always exist. Those ideas you come up with can disappear as quickly as they show up. And who knows what we’re tuning in to. You might have something special for the world and part of you knows it. My advice is to listen to that part .

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Certainly, I’m always looking to create new music. I’m interested in eventually getting a band together to tour and play but in due time. At this point I’m looking for creative people who are interested in making the world a better place and having a good time doing it. I’m doing some production and studio engineering, so I’m also down to work with artists as well. I’ll be busy working with Blackie Chan Studios on a feature film in 2024 and making lots of music, so anyone looking to do some acting, make some music, or be a part of something special, come on through!
