We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sona Sedrakyan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sona, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I think I get my resilience from my ethnicity. I am proud to be Armenian. Resilience is in our roots. As one of the oldest nations and the first Christians in the world, who always had to fight against nomadic invaders who tried to wipe out Armenians from the face of the earth and take over their history and gene. Our people continue to defend their history, faith, gene and language to this day. So my resilience comes from my roots and the strength given to me by the Motherland.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have been professionally involved in floristry for 20 years and have been training florists for the past 8 years. Throughout my career, I have continuously sought to enhance my skills and stay updated with industry trends, as I believe there is always room for growth and improvement in any profession.
Sharing my expertise is something I am passionate about, which is why I teach professional floristry. My goal is to help aspiring florists build a strong foundation and guide those looking to start or grow their flower business.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Thank you for the interesting question, the first thing that helped me and helps me is the ability to not give up and become the best version of myself, the second is not to stop at the knowledge achieved and the third is to be positive and be associated with joy and a smile and happiness in people’s minds. This is what I advise my students, and I would advise everyone, regardless of their profession and field of activity.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
First of all, my floristry teachers , also the people I have worked with and those who have shared their experience with me , who supported and happy with my success. They gave me wings and the drive to improve. At the same time, even those who dislike me or are frustrated by my success have played a role in my journey—they have made me stronger and more resilient, reinforcing that I am on the right path.
