Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sonia Medrano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sonia , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a personal and spiritual journey. For a long time, I felt like I had to prove myself in every room, especially as a Latina in real estate investing.
But I realized that imposter syndrome grows when we stay quiet and compare ourselves to others. What helped me was remembering my purpose and everything I’ve already accomplished from building my business, leading renovations, closing deals, mentoring others, and creating real opportunities for my community.
I also leaned into my faith. I truly believe I’m here for a reason, with a mission. I don’t focus on being “enough” anymore – I focus on the value I bring, how I serve, and the impact I make.
I’m still learning every day, because imposter syndrome is something we must face from within, day by day. For me, it’s about staying grounded in my faith, aligned with my vision, and connected to everything I want to create in the physical world, always trusting that something greater is guiding and supporting me.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m Sonia Medrano, a real estate investor focused on building high-impact communities in Houston and surrounding areas. I’m the Managing Partner at Trusted Partners Inc., where we specialize in off-market acquisitions, redevelopment, land subdivision, home development, and partnering with accredited investors to build wealth through real estate.
What excites me most about what I do is turning vision into reality — transforming distressed properties into vibrant spaces, creating homes for families, and bringing life back to forgotten neighborhoods. For me, this work isn’t just transactional — it’s transformational. I truly believe real estate is a powerful tool for creating generational wealth, community pride, and opportunities where they’re most needed.
What makes my brand special is the energy and intention behind it. I don’t just do deals — I create impact. I lead with faith, purpose, and service.
Currently, we are focused on off-market commercial acquisitions, land subdivision, residential development, redevelopment, and educating new investors.
If you’re looking to invest, collaborate, or grow in real estate, I’m always open to connecting with people who share the vision.
My motto is: We’re not just doing deals — we’re building dreams from the ground up.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three things that have impacted my journey the most are:
1. Resilience – Real estate comes with many highs and lows. Deals fall through, markets shift, and unexpected issues happen. Resilience helped me stay focused and keep going even when things got tough. My advice: don’t take failure personally — take it as feedback. Keep showing up.
2. Relationship Building – This business is built on trust and strong connections. Many of my best deals and opportunities came from my network — not from public listings. My advice: be intentional about building real relationships. Add value, be honest, and show up with good energy.
3. Creative Strategy – Especially when dealing with off-market properties, flips, or development, you have to think outside the box. Structuring deals, solving problems, and finding win-win outcomes requires creativity. My advice: study real estate, but also learn to think like a problem solver. Creativity is your superpower.
For anyone starting out: stay curious, stay humble, and stay grounded in your purpose. Focus on becoming someone people trust — and success will follow.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely! I’m always open to partnering and collaborating with people who share a clear vision, strong values, and a genuine desire to create impact through real estate.
I’m especially interested in connecting with:
• Accredited investors looking for off-market opportunities and long-term partnerships
• Real estate professionals (agents, lenders, builders, developers) who are creative, ethical, and solution-driven
• Community leaders and nonprofit organizations focused on housing, development, or education
• New or aspiring investors who are committed to learning and ready to take action with the right guidance
If you’re reading this and feel aligned with my mission — whether you want to invest, co-develop, or collaborate on something meaningful — I’d love to connect.
We’re not just doing deals — we’re building dreams from the ground up.
We make a partner, not a deal.
