Meet Sonya Goss

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sonya Goss a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sonya, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Growing up, I watched my mother go through so much and worked very hard to provide for me and my siblings. She sacrificed and made sure we were provided with the best education possible. We all attended private schools and worked hard to make her proud.

As I went through struggles to pursue my college education, I made a promise to myself that I will work very hard to become successful in whatever I do in my life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an entrepreneur and the proud owner of Sonya’s Creations LLC, a dynamic media company.

Sonya’s Creations LLC is your one-stop destination for a wide range of media services, including photography, videography, branding, advertising, and marketing. Sonya’s Creations also has its very own engaging podcast and newsletter. Sonya’s Creations is committed to providing top-notch services that don’t break the bank.

With 14 years of professional photography and videography experience, I bring a wealth of expertise to every project. I take immense pride in delivering not only outstanding visuals but also excellent customer service with a focus on prompt delivery. As a contract photographer for respected publications like the Zachary Advocate and Plainsman Newspaper, and the Baton Rouge Weekly Press, my work has been showcased on television, radio, magazines, newspapers, church ads, and various websites. I invested significantly in top-grade cameras and equipment, a testament to my dedication to the art of my craft.

Beyond my professional life, I cherish my roles as a wife and mother of two. I’m also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. As a member of the Mu Zeta Chapter, I am one of the advisors for the Amicette Zeta Youth Auxiliary Group and a committee member of the Greater Baton Rouge Pan-Hellenic Council representing the Mu Zeta Chapter. In addition to my entrepreneurial pursuits, I serve as a Substitute Teacher for the Zachary Community School District, where I have, so far, dedicated five years to educating and inspiring young minds at Zachary High School, Northwestern Middle School, and Copper Mill Elementary.

In October of 2023, not only was I selected as the Ambassador of the month for the Zachary Chamber of Commerce, I was also selected as the Business Spotlight of the week for the North Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce (October 16-22, 2023).

I am an active member of both chambers. I joined the Zachary Chamber to grow my business and be apart of my current community and I joined the North Baton Rouge Chamber to give back and be apart of the community where I lived 25 years of my life.

During my precious downtime, you can find me relishing quality moments with my family and indulging in my favorite TV shows.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the 3 most important things for me was and still is, taking pride in my craft, investing into my business, and providing excellent customer service.

Owning and running your own business takes a lot of time, dedication, and hard work.

You must invest in your business for it to succeed.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who wants quality service and is willing and ready to pay for that type of service.

I believe in quality versus quantity. For any business or organization, you want to present the best to represent your products and services.
