Meet Sophia Renée

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sophia Renée. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sophia below.

Sophia, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome has the power to convince us we’re not good enough and can cause us to diminish our accomplishments. Being a newcomer in my industry, imposter syndrome is always creeping up in the back of my mind. However, over the past couple months I’ve been doing these key things:

1. Making sure I’m not comparing myself to others
2. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone
3. Documenting and reflecting on my achievements

Once I started showing myself compassion and allowing myself to feel proud of my own progress, my whole perspective changed and that has really been what allowed me to overcome imposter syndrome.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Events by Sophia Renée started as a passion project. I’m an artist who wanted to try a new medium. Every artists dream is to be able to make art for a living right? Once I found event styling, my creative gears started turning faster than ever. Before I knew it, I found something I wanted to hold on to. I dove in head first into the industry and haven’t looked back since. I strive to create new, exciting, and inspired backdrops and installations for my clients. I want my work to help transform my clients events and curate the experience.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

When I take a look back at my journey thus far, these are the 3 key factors that have positively impacted my journey:

1. Practice. Practice. Practice. You’ve heard it a million times, but there’s a reason for that. Before I had any bookings, I was inventing “bookings”. I worked on my craft every single day. When you invest time into your business and yourself, you can make years worth of progress in months.

2. Study your field. Take the time to do research on what has made others successful in your craft. Do market research. Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works and doesn’t work for your business.

3. Get involved in your community. Building connections with other businesses in your field is imperative. You can support each other, share ideas, collaborate, and help each other succeed. Sometimes you might just even need someone to complain to that understands you! Either way, “community over competition” are words to live by.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always open to collaborations! I love working with other businesses. Like I said, I believe that building each other up is a major key to success, especially in this industry. That goes for other event stylists, event planners, bakers, designers, photographers, and anyone who is an inspired creative involved in the industry.

The best place to connect with me for collaborations is via email at [email protected].
