We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Soul Tayshi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Soul below.
Soul, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence comes from being my true self at all times. I am not a “people pleaser”. You cannot control what others think of you so don’t take it too personally if someone doesn’t like you! The ones who do appreciate you for who you are will stick around. Always do what feels right and honest in every situation.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Tashawn Dennis but many know me as “Soul Tayshi”. I create content & music about my favorite Anime. I honestly create whatever comes to mind. Usually it’s in the form of comedic skits, rants, songs and random ideas that I come up with. Bringing my wacky ideas to life and seeing how it brightens the days of others is just amazing. I am currently working on building up my YouTube community and in the future I would like to be a full time creator. For 2024 I plan on increasing my consistency without focusing so much on the views. As cliché as it sounds, the most exciting part of it all is the journey. I am in no rush to reach any of my goals. I am taking my time with doing what I love!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I don’t mind giving tips to those who want to pursue content! Staying determined, being open minded and having fun are three qualities/skills that have had a positive impact on my career. I know sometimes we make it look easy but being a content creator is hard work. Making sure that you keep that flame burning inside of you is important. It is easy to become discouraged but you can’t give up! Viewers and peers will often leave feedback under your work. Sometimes it is positive and often times negative but the important thing is that you accept it. That positive feedback can really help your confidence and the negative comments can add fuel to your fire too! I have received negative comments that helped me change some of my ways and further improve my content. All of it is for nothing if you don’t believe in yourself and if you don’t actually enjoy it so stay optimistic and have fun!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am DEFINITELY down for new collaborations! I believe it is the one thing that is lacking in the Anime community honestly. I love making new friends and I think collaborative content is always fun. If you are a content creator or music artist that is influenced by Anime then reach out to me if you want to work. Let’s create something dope!
