Meet Stacey Olivas

We recently connected with Stacey Olivas and have shared our conversation below.

Stacey, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
During my childhood, I enjoyed playing sports, which helped me develop my self-esteem and confidence. While competing, I was taught that self-talk had a significant impact on my performance. Therefore, I learned how to motivate myself internally, which instilled in me a sense of drive, determination, and confidence. Furthermore, my father encouraged me in all aspects of my life. I would talk to him on a daily basis about school, sports, and my social life. Having my father as a strong and supportive role model always motivated me to take more risks and pursue new interests. God has also been my main source of confidence since I was a child. Throughout my life, God has always been my anchor and has provided me with strength and perseverance.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
On Instagram and TikTok, I manage a popular social media page called @90DayFiancéNow. While hosting the 90 Day Fiancé after-shows on AfterBuzz TV, I created these pages to connect with our audience more. My pages are dedicated to sharing news about the 90 Day Fiancé television series, which follows Americans seeking love in various countries around the world. During our 90 Day Fiancé after-shows, our viewers always shared incredible insights about their cultures, traditions, and relationships. As a result, I created @90DayFiancéNow so that individuals from all over the world could come together and learn more about each other. Cast members from the television series are also very active on my pages and engage with their fans. In the last few years, @90DayFiancéNow has grown into a huge online community on TikTok and Instagram with over 500,000 people. This community is very important to me and I will continue to strive to make it a positive place where people can celebrate their cultures as well as those from around the world.

In addition to running @90DayFiancéNow, I am a social media talent researcher at The Fifth Agency in Los Angeles. As a talent researcher, I get the opportunity to work with incredible content creators and brands to promote diversity, inclusion, and representation on social media. Together with my team, I connect creators with brands that provide them with the opportunity for their voices to be heard. I love that I get to be a part of history and make a positive impact on social media and society. Working at The Fifth has been an amazing experience. I have learned so much from my team who all have incredible knowledge and experience in social media and marketing. Moreover, I am extremely passionate about our agency’s mission to promote diversity and inclusion.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that were the most impactful in my journey were resilience, courage, and compassion. As much as I thought my most difficult times in life were my greatest failures, they ultimately turned out to be the most valuable lessons that I’ve ever learned. In these moments, I discovered my life’s purpose. Furthermore, I developed a deeper sense of compassion for others who have experienced similar circumstances. I believe that if life were easy and we didn’t encounter challenges, we wouldn’t have opportunities to grow as individuals. Therefore, developing and strengthening these qualities in myself has also given me the ability to uplift and encourage others and never give up on my dreams.

My advice to those early on in their journey would be to view it as a process. The challenges that you’ll encounter will pass and they’re temporary. During these times, reflect on ways you can grow as a person. See them as opportunities to learn more about yourself. By doing so, you will develop amazing qualities such as empathy, courage, and resilience and most importantly, a strong character. As a result, you will be better prepared for your future and the incredible opportunities that await you.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back, check in with myself, and practice self-care. I believe having good mental and physical health is crucial to our overall well-being. Without it, we cannot enjoy and succeed in life. Therefore, whenever I am stressed, I will spend time in nature. I like to stay physically active, so I take walks, exercise, or I’ll even visit the beach. Another strategy that I have found to be beneficial for my overall health is journaling. I love to journal to help reduce stress. For me, this has been a very therapeutic process, since it helps me get all my overwhelming feelings out and onto paper. After I do it, I feel a sense of relief and I am able to refocus and prioritize what I want to accomplish. I believe that when we are stressed or overwhelmed, we are not able to perform well or produce our best work. Therefore, my advice is to take a break and focus on yourself during these times. It is important to do things that make you happy and feel peaceful. In our society, we are constantly urged to hustle and push our bodies beyond their limits, but I do not believe this is a healthy practice. Without good health, you will find it difficult to enjoy life and achieve your goals. Therefore, your physical and mental health should always be the primary focus, which will result in personal growth and success.
