We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stacey D.M.Shaw. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stacey below.

Hi Stacey, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose was never easy in my eyes until recently. I always struggled as to what I was called to do. I know that I was given the gift of administration, but I wasn’t sure what I was really called to do other than to work in a full-time position in an administrative professional role.

I never thought I could hear from God; I always thought what I was hearing was coming from my own thoughts. I knew the Holy Spirit; The Father and Jesus spoke to everyone, but I felt I could never hear them. However, it became evident that the only way I was going to find out who I was and what I was called to do, I had to go to the one person who knew and that was my Heavenly Father. I began to invest in myself, I found a mentor and coach who not only cared about my success, but also was the type of coach who was not afraid to call me out and correct me if I was wrong.  With that, I took a soul detox class, soul care certification, and a few other soul care classes so that I could start healing from the inside out and by making the decision to read the word, study the word and meditate on the word, would begin to open my sensitivity to hearing from the trinity. This started over 4 years ago, it didn’t happen overnight, and I am still working on becoming whole and walking out my purpose.

My purpose is to equip, execute and activate leaders’ transition process, empowering them to become whole in their identity which leads to becoming fruitful and productive. The industries that I serve are: 1. to help domestic abuse survivors know what it is to live a life of freedom after abuse and the other is to help business owners initiate, implement, or improve their business operations in order to maintain or increase productivity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a multifaceted person having been blessed to operate in two different fields of life. My business Your Brilliant Transitions is a virtual administrative consulting company that helps entrepreneurs and corporations to initiate, implement or improve effective business operations in order to have an effective and efficient business operations and back office so that they can maintain or continue to increase productivity. We ensure our clients have a solid business foundation. We do this by reviewing and analyzing our clients’ existing systems, procedures, policies, organizational structure and administrative culture. We pinpoint gaps and propose actionable recommendations. Our aim is to streamline, scale, and improve their back-office for maximum efficiency.

Some of the services we provide include:

  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Digital File Structure
  • Policies & Procedures
  • Capability Statements
  • Strategic Meeting Organizations

I find so much joy being able to help business owners gain one of the most precious things in life, their time. Having a solid structure/foundation and administrative framework makes it much easier for businesses to operate and function without being concerned of losing revenue due to not having their correct policies, procedures, or structure in place.  Recently I hosted a five-day delegating challenge teaching effective delegation and how this one critical step need to be adapted in all businesses for the success of a growing company.

On Feb 15, I launched my podcast, Brilliant Transitions 4 Business Podcast. The purpose of the podcast is to have conversations with extraordinary business professionals who share their stories of transition, resilience, lessons, and expertise that have led to transformation and success. The podcast is held on the 2nd & 4th Thursday at 7:30pm EST.

I am also spotlighting 31 women for Women History month and will be ending the month with an entrepreneurial virtual roundtable.

My other mission is to help domestic violence survivors know that there’s life after abuse. Abuse has over 9 different arms as I would call it; which is not taught so my mission is to share this knowledge, but my hope and desire is to be able to relaunch my non-profit soon and help get laws passed; provide homes, cars, groceries, training and more to domestic violence survivors and help them to see that there’s life after abuse.

I am also the recipient of The Phenomenal Woman award in 2023 and 2024 and I am a contributing author in three anthologies.  I was featured on the My Sister’s Keeper Magazine.

On a personal side, I am a mother of two amazing young adults a boy and a girl, I am originally from the Island of Jamaica, lover of nature, sea, painting, dancing, traveling, listing to music and being ok with my silly quirk.  Life is a precious gift, and it is super important that you live life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that were impactful in my journey is determination, my gift of administration and my love for people.

Everyone should always be willing to learn and keep learning. You must also be willing to adjust and embrace change. If you don’t embrace change in life, nothing will change. If you don’t enjoy learning and advancing yourself, you will remain stagnant. In life you need to love people just as The Heavenly Father loves people. You must set healthy boundaries, but to achieve all that you have been called to do, you must be able to work with others and being compassionate, understanding, and caring.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

My biggest area of improvement over the last 12 months is finding out who I am and whose I am. Having been a survivor of abuse, I had no self-esteem. I would allow just about everyone to trample over me, and I had no boundaries. I had no clue what true love even felt like. I am not just speaking about a romantic relationship; I am speaking about growing up in love. My aunt who I grew up with did the best she could, but other than that, I had no clue what love was and because of that I tried to find love by fitting in and attracting abusive partners, bosses, and friends.

It wasn’t until in 2022 when my mentor told me, I needed to take a break from everything that I was doing and take the time to focus on knowing who I was in Christ and also that I needed to go back into therapy. That was what started to help me to turn around and begin to know that I am loved by the Father and that I can do anything he has called me to do. I am beautiful both inside and out and I am blessed every day to be loved by some amazing friends, my two beautiful children and most importantly by my heavenly father.
