We recently connected with Stacie Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacie , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem through years of hard work and sacrifice. It took a long time to reach the level of confidence that I have currently. At the beginning, when my confidence was low, I reminded myself everyday that consistency is more important than perfection. This subtle reminder helped build the foundation for my confidence and self-esteem over time. I can remember times at the beginning where I experienced self-doubt and uncertainty of my business plan, but I knew in my heart and mind this is what I wanted; to be a spray tan artist & build my own brand. I continued to stay active on social media with posting, marketing at local establishments, and I also had support from friends and family, spreading the word about my business. I decided in 2021-2022 to start investing more into myself and my business. I wanted to learn from other entrepreneurs and educate myself as much as I could. I will say investing in myself was the most important thing I could have done! It all helped me build the confidence and personal growth I needed to get where I am today.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I have been in the beauty industry since 2012. I started my esthetician journey with an emphasis on makeup. I was able to do that for a little while but realized quickly it was not the right path. When I was in beauty school, I learned full body waxing. It came so naturally to me that I continued my career path as a wax specialist. In 2017 I was offered the opportunity to share a salon suite with a previous coworker. I thought to myself, “why not” and at that moment was the beginning of when I decided to take a chance on myself as an entrepreneur. Starting this journey is where I found my love for spray tanning. I was nervous because it was new, but once I got the hang of it, I loved it. Spray tanning offers instant results that I am proud of, and my customers love and enjoy! I was able to stay in my salon suite for about a year and a half and honestly, for starting from scratch I did pretty well. Towards the last few months things took a turn; so, for financial reasons I had to step away. After having a taste of entrepreneurship, I knew this is what I wanted! I decided to switch to just doing spray tans out of my home, continuing where I left off. I was thankful for the word-of-mouth clients that I was able to service. I had to pick up another job once I made the switch, but it gave me the time to work on figuring out what I really wanted for the future of my business.

In 2021-2022, I decided to start offering mobile spray tans to reach more people. I invested in conferences, continued education in the spray tan industry, & listed my business on google. All of the information I learned helped me expand my knowledge and ideas of what I wanted for my business. I don’t make my own products or have my own solution. I use a well-known brand that is a vegan solution. I have been using the vegan solution since the beginning & all of my clients have loved the results. I never had a reason to change solution brands. I focus on promoting a safer tanning alternative, mobile tanning for convenience, and providing my clients with the best experience! Spray tanning has always been part time for me until April 2024, when I went full time. It wasn’t planned, it just happened, and it has been the best! I am thankful I had all of the education beforehand to prepare me for that moment. I look forward to the next step in my business journey and who knows maybe one day I will have a place again of my own! I’m happy with all of the steps along my career path and where it has gotten me today! I am excited for what the future holds but for now I am just taking it one “spray” at a time.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities I would say.

1. believe in yourself
2. take that chance
3. invest in yourself

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

There were a few impactful things my parents did for me. My parents are very hardworking people, and from a young age, have instilled those values in me. They have continued to push me in a positive direction, encouraging me to take chances on myself, making me a more confident business owner. Their constant love and support have been a very positive impact for me as a person and businesswoman.
