We were lucky to catch up with Stacy Aloisi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Stacy with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My parents’ entrepreneurial spirit and drive have had a profound impact on my life and career. Their dedication to building their own business and striving for excellence is truly inspiring. Ive learned valuable lessons from them that have helped me succeed, especially in building my own salon.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My passion for beauty started way back in high school, where I’d spend hours perfecting my hair, makeup, and fashion. I knew I wanted to attend beauty school, and my mom encouraged me to pursue cosmetology. While in school, I discovered a knack for nails and enjoyed the quicker pace of the program. However, life had other plans, and I soon found myself pregnant at 20.
After having my child, I put my cosmetology dreams on hold and worked in childcare for 8 years as a single mom. But my passion for beauty never faded. When my child’s father and I reunited, I decided to go back to school. Initially, I considered nursing, but ultimately, I followed my heart and pursued cosmetology.
After graduating, I faced some challenges, but I persevered and started building my clientele at Zodiac Hair Design. With hard work and determination, I eventually became a booth renter. However, I soon realized that I wanted more control over my environment and clients’ experience. After 8 years of working in various salons, I took the leap and rented my own 750 sq. ft. space.
Now, as a salon owner with over 10 years of experience, I specialize in lived-in color services and hair extensions. I’m proud to provide a clean, welcoming space where my clients feel comfortable and confident. It’s been a journey, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to live my dream and help others look and feel their best.”

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. *Creativity and Adaptability*: Being able to think creatively and adapt to new trends, techniques, and client needs has been crucial in staying ahead in the beauty industry.
2. *Strong Communication Skills*: Effectively communicating with clients, understanding their needs, and providing personalized service has helped me build a loyal clientele and grow my business.
3. *Business Acumen*: Having a solid understanding of the business side of things, such as marketing, finance, and management, has allowed me to successfully run my salon and make informed decisions.
For those early in their journey, I’d advise:
– *Stay Curious*: Continuously seek out new knowledge, attend workshops, and stay up-to-date with industry trends.
– *Practice, Practice, Practice*: Hone your skills through hands-on experience and experimentation.
– *Develop Your Soft Skills*: Focus on building strong communication, time management, and customer service skills to complement your technical skills.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents teaching strong work ethic has likely been a game-changer in your career. It’s great that they instilled that value in myself from a young age. A strong work ethic can open doors and create opportunities, and it’s served me well in building my salon business.
