Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacy Appiah. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Stacy , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from becoming a mother. I never really had the easiest life but when I became a mom that’s when I faced the most difficult time in my life. I got pregnant at a young age (21) and immediately felt like the world was against me. This was one time in life where I could not sulk or feel sorry for myself like I usually would because there was another life counting on me for their survival. That’s when I knew life was bigger than just me and if I did not make something of myself than I would have failed my two little ones. From that point resilient was what I had become. I don’t have the option to be anything else but.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Stacy but online you may know me as Trendsettastacy or ‘Trendsetta’. In my younger days I was known for my dancing and making dance videos and gradually that transitioned into making content on social media. I love what I do. I get up and do it every single day. I could not imagine my life without it. My focus is on building a community that empowers women. Ever since becoming a mom and an adult I’ve realized how much support women need. We do not have it easy at all. I really want to encourage all women to express themselves freely and to feel confident under any circumstance.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that have been most impactful on my journey is
1. Consistency
2. Being yourself
3. Never giving up
If you keep those three at the forefront of your brain you can do ANYTHING.
My advice to those who are early in their journey is to stay focused no matter how hard or difficult life may get. Keep your eyes on the prize!
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I think just allowing myself to fully experience life and not being afraid of what others thought of me. I’ve allowed myself to make mistakes and not always do what was expected of me. There comes a certain point in life where you have to take off the trainings wheels and just take the risk! The unknown is scary but we must embrace it.
