Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacy Wray. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stacy, thank you so much for making time for us today. We’re excited to discuss a handful of topics with you, but perhaps the most important one is around decision making. The ability to make decisions is a key requirement for anyone who wants to make a difference and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your decision-making skills.
I grew up the youngest of 7 so I got my PHD in “Watch & Learn”. I adopted the perspective of being a student of life and I see this as one of the biggest influences on how I continue to develop my decision-making skills. I pull from experiences working with strong leaders & I also make notes of missteps working for others.
I also expose myself to books and podcasts. I read the other day that most adults over the age of 30 stop learning, stop reading, stop exposing themselves to new ideas. My goal is to read a book a month this year. I like to mix up the subjects: personal development, fiction, leadership, biographies, and faith. One book I read this year I highly recommend is Atomic Habits!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the General Manager of ProSource in Marietta Georgia & I also work with a handful of designer accounts. We sell what I call “all the pretty stuff” for residential & commercial projects: hard & soft scape materials, Kitchen & Bath cabinets, plumbing, lighting, door hardware & more. We sell direct to the Trade – Contractors, Designers, Installers, Remediation Companies & Realtors – and their customers. We are locally owned and operated with the added benefit of the support from ProSource Wholesale National which helps us secure the best possible pricing on 1st run materials.
I am thankful to love what I do & who I work with for a living! Our team is gifted, generous with their time and operate with genuine care & concern for our members and their customers.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
HUMILITY – I have met and worked with some incredible people and the ones who I appreciate working with the most walk in humility. Pride is a repellant. Humility is a connector.
HARD WORK beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Pay attention to the details, put in the extra hours where necessary & build up your endurance. There is no substitution for hard work … even for us in the creative world of design.
BALANCE – Being intentional to notice how I am feeling throughout the day, week & month requires checking in with myself on a regular basis. What am I feeling? How am I responding? How am I sleeping & eating? How am I taking care of myself? Am I growing my skills? Any area I see a deficiency or breakdown I begin to drill down and figure out why, when, how & what do I need to do to restore balance. Staying balanced means I can offer the best of what I have to others around me.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
