Meet Starlin Hamilton

We were lucky to catch up with Starlin Hamilton recently and have shared our conversation below.

Starlin, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from the idea that when we consistently do the right things, AT SOME POINT, opportunity WILL meet perfect timing. That’s where you have those major moments that create momentum that can change the trajectory of your life. It’s just the way I live my life – Through discipline through consistency & just moving right!

I didn’t get exactly as far as
I wanted to get in my sporting career, (which is where I learned my work ethic). I spent so much time & put in so much consistent work behind closed doors that nobody could see, & it paid off in skill, just not as much accomplishment as I would’ve liked, but I know I can rest well knowing that at the end of my career I put all work in I was supposed to & more.

So at this point with my business & work in fashion, as well as other endeavors I take part in, I know that I’m DUE for some wins, haha. My heart & intentions are pure, so I know I am fully prepared for it. So when I face a bit of adversity, it’s habit to bounce back and just keep showing up, because I know at some point it’s gonna pay off, it’ll all make sense & be a great story in the end.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a brand owner & designer. I’ve spent the majority of my life pursuing an athletic career while also finding creative outlets through fashion, whether it be designing, modeling, or consulting & styling others.

My brand see-no evil comes from the mindset of just doing it your way, “We all have the power to live & the create the life that we want..” It was initially created to be a digital community, giving people a place to see like a curated collection of art in its different forms, from fashion, sneakers, art, architecture, music. As planned, it transitioned into a physical brand and business. Starting with clothing. At see-no evil I focus on creating garments that directly translate from my ideas and vision artistically—from the theme of each garment, to fit & quality.

The brand is doing well & growing! As it continues to grow (I won’t share too much) I plan to develop other branches of see-no evil in other creative spaces as well, while also continuing to serve in assisting other brand’s creative direction for individual projects or their business as a whole.

In 2025, the plan is to have a new drop every month, with each drop bigger than the last. seenoevil-shop.com

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The 3 Most important qualities or skills to me are necessarily even fashion related, there’s no 1 set way to create, everyone’s interpretation creatively may differ.

The most important traits to me are:

1) Consistency. That’s in anything, Just show up & stack days. Ultimately you start covering ground. Consistency is the key to life.
2) The second one is something I’ve grown in but still working on, and that’s Don’t be afraid to fail. I’m a perfectionist to a fault, it’s a gift and a curse. The details matter, how you want things to be presented matter but wanting everything to be perfect leads to indecision & at times has left me with nothing, in a place where I’m getting nothing done haha. Just go for it, the worse thing that can’t happen is you fail, then what? this isn’t highschool where we’re getting a letter grade that determines our future. You fail, then you try again until you don’t, at the end of the day no one really cares.

The last one is simple but should be remembered, as creative people a lot of time our world’s are revolving only around us, but remember, people will directly remember how you made them feel. Keep your name clean, treat people right, keep your word, respect people’s time! Things like this go a long way. Your name will reach rooms before you physically do when you treat people right.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m always open to collaboration if it makes sense.

Moving forward, I am looking to start exploring building out the see-no evil team. Everything from a photographer, videographer, stylists, content marketers, more people that are aligned in growing and run the mission of see-no evil.

As far as client wise, I’m always open to discussing how my business’s creative direction can help other businesses grow, tapping markets that may not have utilized yet, especially though social media!
