Meet Starr Fountain

We were lucky to catch up with Starr Fountain recently and have shared our conversation below.

Starr, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Motherhood started at the age of 20 for me. I was grateful to have the support and guidance of my parents. Although young, I was determined to be resourceful when it came to being a responsible parent. Without much support from my son’s father, I took that disappointment and turned it into determination. I took baby steps, that eventually led to college degrees, a full time career, perseverance, and confidence. I also watched my mother gracefully raise 5 children, work full time, and never drop the ball on her responsibilities. Raising children as a single parent grows you up quickly and they become your motivation to never give up!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am currently a part time vloggerand full time Children Social Worker. Married with 4 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Educating, being of service to those in need and helping Les’s fortunate is my passion. I believe that knowledge is power and you spread it by being vulnerable and letting people into your world. Also by demonstrating and exposure. I became vegan 3 1/2 years ago and started sharing my journey on social media. For so long, I doubted my abilities to cook vegan dishes. Once I started to learn with the help of Tabitha Brown life changed. So many times we lack confidence until someone comes along that inspires, motivates, and gives a person hope. I am showing the world that making plant based choices is not difficult, there are healthy options and it’s delicious!!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Willingness, ability, and resources. You have to have a willingness to change, learn, explore something new and be brave enough to do it. I had to believe in my ability to learn, shift my lifestyle, and start an unfamiliar journey. Social media was a huge resource for me. I learned a lot about vlogging by watching others. I also had the support of family and friends. My advice is to remain consistent, avoid comparisons, educate yourself, be patient and trust the process.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
After vlogging for almost 4 years, I’ve learned a great deal. I feel confident enough to partner with plant based/vegan brands. I would also love to collab with other vegan vloggers. I have significant knowledge about living a vegan lifestyle and knowing what to plate around with. I am passionate about the vegan lifestyle and prepared to share it with the world on another level. I have amazing ideas and goals to explore and achieve in the near future. It’s my desire to write a cookbook, wellness journal, and much more.
