Meet Steelo I.B.

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steelo I.B. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Steelo , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I’d say I get my work ethic from my father. Watching how hard he worked made me understand the importance of consistency. I understood it been but it didn’t actually translate to actual application until later in life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My focus since I started my pursuit in music has always been “Stay Truu”. Stay Truu is the message and the brand. My journey in music parallels my journey in life. As I grew as an artist, I also developed a deeper understanding of myself which allows for a more authentic sound and honest presentation. In my most recent exhibition ‘Circa 2016’ ( a collection of songs from that time period) I explore a wide range of topics, sounds, flows and emotions. I have a couple upcoming projects on the way that display a lot of growth and I’m looking forward to sharing with the world.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Consistency, discipline, and receptiveness have been great teachers. These were all skills that were learned over time and I think have been crucial to my growth as a person.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I think practicing mindfulness is key. Also, staying focused on what you can control.
