We were lucky to catch up with Stef & Danyelle White recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Stef & Danyelle, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Going into this business we weren’t sure how people would react to our art. Putting ourselves out there and embracing all of the positive feedback we’ve received since we started has definitely helped a lot. It’s not everyday that we wake up with such confidence, but we have always fed off of each other’s energies and continue to inspire one another to keep going.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We are Little White Bones! We specialize in pinned insects, bones, and mixed media art. When it comes to putting the pieces together, Danyelle starts the insect rehydration and pinning process while Stef creates prints and paintings. Once we are done, we collaborate and make the decision of which of our arts look best together. Each piece is one of a kind. We are stocked up on new species and have some fun stuff in the works so come check us out in person! Our next event is on August 13th at the Obscure Houston Oddities Market @ Numbers Night Club!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Our interest in learning about the different species of insects, trial and error of cold press paper when using acrylics & watercolor, and most importantly patience. These have been a few impacts throughout our adventure so far. Research, practice, and consistency are key to improving on your journey!
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When we start to feel overwhelmed we’ll usually throw on a record, or go on what we like to call a “Night Venture”. Most of the time it’s in a nature setting such as the beach, or a hike in a park. Sometimes it’s good to give your brain a break in order to catch different perspectives.
