We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stefani Fryzel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stefani below.
Stefani, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
It’s been an interesting journey! I started out as an artist/songwriter, riding through the highs and lows of being an independent artist. During the pandemic, I realized I had other gifts and talents that had been lying dormant, so I took the opportunity to write my first book, Self-Care for the Creative—a self-care guide for people in creative industries. During that process, and after 20 years in the music industry, I discovered an even bigger purpose: coaching artists and songwriters to not only grow creatively, but also thrive sustainably. As an author and advocate for self-care, I’ve seen firsthand how essential it is to nurture both the art and the artist. My creative coaching company has focused on addressing critical gaps in the industry—artist development and the lack of fair compensation for songwriters. That’s why I’ve committed to leading change. I believe there’s a huge opportunity to generate new income for songwriters by offering holistic artist development.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At the beginning of my journey in music as an artist and songwriter, I faced my own battles with mental health. At 18, I suffered from severe depression and became suicidal. It wasn’t until I was 30 that I discovered I was an empath, and I learned self-care tools that helped me protect not only my mental health but also set boundaries to safeguard my gift of sensitivity. This experience ultimately became the driving force behind my book, Self-Care for the Creative—a guide for artists, empaths, and highly sensitive people to protect their mental health while still pursuing their craft. My own journey in music taught me that talent is never enough—you need resilience, support, and strategies that nurture both your art and yourself.
This has inspired me to focus my work on empowering artists and songwriters through every stage of their careers. Today, my team and I lead workshops and masterclasses that help songwriters gain access to the music industry, plan their artist projects, and improve their craft. We specifically focus on creative growth and career advancement through personalized coaching, blending artistry with business strategy. This October, we’re hosting The Hitmakers Songwriting Retreat—a three-day immersive experience where guests write alongside hit songwriters, gain insider industry knowledge, and leave with songs and connections that can truly change their trajectory. Our mission is to help build careers, confidence, and community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three skills that have helped me most in my career are simple but powerful: being tenacious when pursuing a goal, becoming a “no-matter-what” type of person, and investing in coaching or hiring people who can do something better than I can, then learning everything I can from them. These habits have kept me moving forward, even in the face of challenges, and have accelerated my growth in ways I could never have achieved alone.
My best advice for artists and songwriters is to go straight to the top—connect with and learn from the people already thriving in the music industry. That’s exactly what my company offers. We’ve helped hundreds of emerging musicians get in the room with hit songwriters. Next, write a lot of songs, commit to producing a high volume of music, and be fearless about promoting it online. Too many young artists get stuck in “cringe culture,” holding back because they’re afraid of looking silly. The real loss is letting fear keep you from nurturing your gift or giving it the chance to thrive. And finally, do the things that scare you! Quantum leaps happen when you’re willing to step into the unknown.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Our ideal clients are driven songwriters and artists who are committed to mastering their craft and taking their careers to the next level. They show up consistently, put in the work, and embrace the growth that comes from learning from a variety of experts and perspectives. They’re open-minded, eager to absorb new strategies, and ready to welcome creative and professional breakthroughs. Most importantly, they’re willing to take bold risks, and invest in themselves because they know their art and their future are worth it.
