Meet Stefani Garcia

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stefani Garcia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Stefani, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Building my confidence and self-esteem was a journey deeply rooted in self-reflection and personal growth. Through my studies, I delved into Carl Jung’s concept of the shadow self and the idea of living through our ego mind. I realized that the fears and insecurities (feelings of inadequacy, poor confidence, and low self-esteem) are misconceptions that people allow themselves to be defined by. I decided to choose differently.

One day, it felt as if I awakened to a new understanding. I decided to love myself in a way that no one else ever had or could. I reevaluated my self-talk and recognized that I would never let my friends, or even my worst enemy, speak to me the way I had been speaking to myself. I chose to become my own best friend, a decision that has brought me immense happiness.

I learned that the way others treat you reflects their own issues, while your perception of others mirrors your inner self. Feeling threatened is an opportunity to introspect and understand what your soul is seeking. Conversely, seeing someone with pure love and good intentions reveals a reflection of your own positive qualities.

People are often more concerned with themselves than with what we do, so I decided to live authentically and pursue my goals fearlessly. Adopting this mindset not only boosted my confidence and self-esteem but also transformed my life in profound ways. It was at this point that the magic truly began for me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a certified virtual life coach. I am in the mental wellness industry. I like to identify myself as a mindset healer. My virtual life coaching business embodies my unwavering commitment to fostering significant shifts in individuals’ lives, guiding them from periods of struggle to a state of comprehensive wellness. This journey is not just about overcoming adversity; it’s about empowering clients to build the life they’ve always envisioned, encompassing emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental well-being. By tackling self-sabotaging behaviors, dismantling limiting beliefs, and cultivating a transformative mindset, we collaboratively craft a tailored plan of action aimed at reprogramming the subconscious mind for lasting change.

My dedication to this mission is deeply personal, informed by my own 17-year journey of healing and professional development. With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, a Master’s in Human Behavior, and ongoing Ph.D. studies in Psychology with a focus on consciousness, spirituality, and integrative health, my academic background provides a solid foundation for my practice. Certifications in life coaching and hypnosis further enhance my ability to offer a holistic and evidence-based approach to transformation, merging personal insight with professional expertise.

Darkness To Wellness represents more than just a business—it’s a reflection of my personal and professional evolution. Having transitioned from a counselor dissatisfied with the industry’s focus on profits over people, I now thrive in a role that allows genuine healing to take center stage.

Serving clients from various backgrounds and locations, my virtual practice breaks down geographical barriers, making it possible for anyone seeking change to access support. My approach is rooted in living the principles I teach, embodying the holistic wellness I advocate for. This authenticity and dedication set me apart in the industry, marking Darkness To Wellness as a safe haven for those ready to transform their lives emotionally, mentally, soulfully, spiritually, and beyond.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey were dedication, maintaining a healthy mindset, and courage.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of procrastination. Telling yourself “I’ll get to it later” can quickly turn into hours, days, weeks, and even months of delay. To bring your vision to life, you need to be dedicated. This means setting a schedule and committing to the necessary work. However, it’s crucial to maintain balance. If you neglect your well-being, you won’t be able to show up consistently and authentically. Prioritizing your mind, body, and soul is essential to avoid burnout.

Your mindset is everything, particularly when building your own business. Failure is inevitable, and you need to be comfortable with it. Failure is not a setback; it’s an opportunity for growth. It clarifies what you truly want, enhances your flexibility, and helps you adapt to constant change. The way you respond to challenges defines you. It’s better to respond in ways that enhance your life rather than react in ways that contribute to problems.

Procrastination can be a significant barrier. I struggled with it myself, often waiting for the “right time” to do something. But there is no perfect moment—you have to just go for it. Be courageous and take risks. Waiting for perfection only feeds into an unrealistic need for flawlessness. Remember, no one is perfect. What you see on social media is just a highlight reel, not the full story. We are souls, having a human experience. Your soul choose this body, this life, make it count! Take action and be the change you want to see and make shift happen.

My advice for folks who are looking to improve their lives is to take it one day at a time and confront the fears that hold you back. Take risks and believe in yourself. If you don’t take a chance on yourself, who will? Don’t let others’ fears influence you. If you have a vision, keep pursuing it. People will judge you no matter what, so focus on your reasons and your life. Surround yourself with supportive people who cheer you on and stand by you in both your falls and your wins. These are the people you want in your circle. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my support team, and I’m deeply grateful for them. They know who they are, especially if they’re reading this now.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I realize I’ve unintentionally disconnected from myself and I am prioritizing everything else above my own well-being. It’s easy to get so caught up in life’s demands that you lose a bit of yourself in the process. Over time, I’ve learned to be intentional with my time and adhere to my own boundaries.
To stay grounded, I engage in daily activities that help me reconnect with myself, such as meditating, EFT tapping, pulling tarot cards, journaling, exercising, and reading. When these activities are compromised, it’s a sign that I’m giving too much of myself to others. These practices set me up for success, and missing them can impact my well-being. For instance, if I miss a journal entry, it’s not a big deal. But if I wake up late and skip my meditation, or miss several days of exercise, I start to feel the effects.
It’s not about doing these activities at specific times but about incorporating them in a way that flows well in my day. When I recognize that I’m overwhelmed and losing myself, I make space for self-care. I feel that there is a misconception that self-care is just about bubble baths and getting your nails done—that’s self-maintenance. True self-care is about giving yourself grace, taking a day off to rest, going to bed early, making a comforting meal, and turning inward to recharge your body and soul.
I suggest getting to know yourself better and building a relationship with your mind, body, and soul to catch feelings of overwhelm before they take over. If you’re already feeling overwhelmed, simplify things. Take a break, practice deep breathing, seek support, take a walk outside, set boundaries, and create healthy lifestyle choices. Utilize free resources like podcasts, YouTube videos, and documentaries to learn about burnout prevention or how to enhance your well-being. For instance, EFT tapping is a great tool—just search for “EFT tapping for feeling overwhelmed,” and you’ll find plenty of videos.
Ultimately, it boils down to choosing yourself and making your well-being a priority.
