Meet Steff Price

We were lucky to catch up with Steff Price recently and have shared our conversation below.

Steff, we are so appreciative of you taking the time to open up about the extremely important, albeit personal, topic of mental health. Can you talk to us about your journey and how you were able to overcome the challenges related to mental issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.

Navigating life with a chronic illness that significantly impacts mental health has been a transformative journey for me. Rather than claiming to have “overcome” these challenges, I prefer to acknowledge that I’ve discovered valuable tools that support me along this path.

As a woman living with ADHD and later diagnosed with lupus, adaptability has become an integral part of my daily life. Recognizing the transient nature of emotions and embracing assistance during challenging periods marked the initial steps in my proactive approach. Despite my inclination to avoid being a “burden” to others, I understood the importance of developing a personalized toolkit to enhance my overall quality of life.

I’ve cultivated a robust support system comprising dedicated medical professionals and therapists, addressing both my physical and mental well-being. Additionally, I delved into alternative practices such as energy work, yoga, and nutritional guidance to explore their impact on mental and physical health. Along this journey, I attained certifications as a Reiki Master Practitioner and a children’s accessible yoga teacher.

To combat mental fatigue, I maintain a structured journal and planner to organize my thoughts and tasks effectively. Implementing multiple daily “body scans” for stress relief enables me to discern and address the immediate needs of my body and mind. Embracing an early morning routine allows my body and brain the necessary time to acclimate and prepare for the challenges of the day.

Living with a chronic illness has undeniably become an intrinsic part of my identity. However, having a well-equipped toolbox of supportive practices has significantly enhanced my ability to navigate and manage these challenges with resilience and grace.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am presently undergoing a transitional phase, reorienting my efforts towards providing dedicated support to clients. Concurrently, I am committed to the expansion of my recently re-established multimodal educational consulting firm. Additionally, I am in the final stages of developing my comprehensive social-emotional learning curriculum, titled ‘The Rainbow Technique.’ This innovative program employs a multisensory, multimodal approach, enabling children of all ages and abilities to access effective regulation strategies. It is designed to empower individuals in navigating internal challenges, emphasizing that our ability to navigate these storms ultimately leads to the discovery of the metaphorical rainbow.

I am also actively seeking collaborative opportunities with families, homeschool groups, and educational institutions to provide workshops, classes, and professional development opportunities. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where individuals, irrespective of their background or affiliation, can benefit from these mindfulness practices. If there is an interest in cultivating mindfulness and well-being, I am eager to explore partnerships to develop tailored strategies for optimal effectiveness.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Empower yourself to acknowledge and process the mourning of your former, healthier self. Having spent years maintaining a facade of well-being and attempting to ‘fake it,’ embracing the grieving process early on is crucial for genuine healing. I proactively sought support groups on social media to mitigate feelings of isolation during my personal journey.

Moreover, cultivating confidence in advocating for oneself is paramount. By diligently educating oneself about the diagnosis, one can effectively navigate a robust medical support system and assemble a personalized toolkit for success.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
This interview came in true divine timing, as I am eager to explore further collaborative opportunities that will contribute to the expansion of my professional practice.
I would love to extend my services to families, homeschool co-op groups, preschools, and other educational environments seeking expertise in mindfulness, special education advocacy and education, tutoring, or workshops. I can be reached via my social media platforms (facebook, instagram, linkedin) or via email.
