Meet Stephani Clymer

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephani Clymer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Stephani, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I suppose it is a choice!

We have so much power over our minds and our belief system and I truly choose to see the best in people, find joy in this crazy journey called entrepreurship and deeply believe that the best of times and the worst of times will ebb and flow.

I often rely on prayer and faith because it gives, even the hardest days, hope and purpose. I believe we are all here for an awesome reason and so all of the trials are lessons and all of the wins are designed to be shared.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am the owner of two awesome retails brands.

One, Shop Common Thread, is a brick and mortar as well as ecomm store. We serve our community with a tightly curated selection of clothing and accessories for women. What I love most about this business are the people and connections. We uniquely serve our clients and their needs, in fact we joke we are the store for women who hate to shop. Sounds crazy right? However, if you are unsure of what to choose or simply do not have the time and patience to hunt for the next perfect outfit then we are for you. We have it all in a small (ish) space – we like to say we have just enough. We are a team of stylists and specialize in knowing your name, the items in your closet and what makes you feel best.

I am really excited about my newest venture! In 2020 I partnered with Taylor Pammer to create Friday Feelin’ – a brand of cute trucker hats! We are expanding quickly and having so much fun with this brand.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistency
Belief
Curiosity

I show up everyday. On social, at the stores, planning, inspiring, connecting.

I believe in my purpose and my ability to figure things out as I go. I believe that if someone else did it then so can we!

I have and am very open to the fact that there is always something new to learn. I seek out those ahead of me along their journey and am so curious about their stories, their advice and open to advice. I ask my employees and clients daily for their input. Zero ego, just curiosity.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My mom.

From emotional support to business support she truly paved the way. As a retired COO, she has provided so much financial advice and guidance. Getting that from someone I trust has been a blessing.

She always worked the hardest and figured out more than anyone I know. She believed in me, encouraged me and went all in on anything and everything.

Honestly, she is my unfair advantage.
