We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanie Arias a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I don’t think imposter syndrome fully goes away. As you keep growing in your career you’ll always be faced with imposter syndrome. I think speaking with other colleagues who are going through the same thing you’re going through helps immensely. There has not been a single colleague of mine who has told me they have never experienced imposter syndrome. What shocked me the most through my networking and making connections with highly respected people in my industry is that they also experience imposter syndrome. Even the most well known and respected people go through this. I have noticed that when I’m feeling this way and I decide to push through that’s when the magic happens. In those moments I realize that I CAN do what I think I can’t or don’t know how to do and it makes me feel like I’m right where I need to be. If you’re currently going through imposter syndrome just remember you are not alone and you can push through!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
We are Stephanie Arias Event Planning, a wedding and event planning company. We love to work with refined couples who’s goal is to give their guests an experience at their event. We offer several services from full planning to power hours. The connections we create with our couples is our favorite part of what we do. You can call us your event planning besties! Our most recent service launch has been our power hours where we chat with our couples for an hour on any wedding related questions they may have. The wedding planning process can be very overwhelming but couples may not always have a planner or coordinator in their budget. Therefore, we created a service where you can chat to an experienced wedding planner on our team about any pain points or struggles you are currently facing in your planning process. We are here to help wherever you are in your process!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back at my journey so far I would say that the three qualities I possess that were most impactful in my career have been my self discipline, consistency and ambition. For anyone who is early in their journey I would recommend reading a few books on any of these three qualities if you feel like you’re lacking in any particular area. Don’t get me wrong there are some days where I have zero self discipline or do not want to do anything but it is about being persistent and staying consistent. The more you practice a quality or skill the better you will get at it. I would recommend putting yourself in situations where you have to use these qualities and push yourself to be better. Nothing that is worth it will ever come easy!
