Meet Stephanie Brown

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Stephanie, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is a B*****. Its such a false narrative that is so easy to believe. Living around Denver, the city is so saturated with insane talent in all departments. I could sit here all day and play the comparison game…and oh, trust me, I have. BUT, its also important to realize that everyone does things different, and theres plenty of room for everyone to succeed. Im so grateful to be surrounded by amazing people who always lift me up and cheer me on. Its easy to get lost in the comparison game, but important to remind yourself that you are deserving of the success that you have worked towards.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

On stage you can find me under the name Stephanie Spinelli. I am a multi-prop flow artist, specializing in fire. I also am an aerialist, with a focus on lyra and sling. For the past six years, I’ve been performing professionally across the USA. From music venues and festivals to corporate holiday events, county fairs, and birthday parties, I bring my unique artistry to a wide range of stages. I love enhancing experiences with my performances.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1) You’re not going to get it the first day.
2) Dont compare yourself to others.
3) Do it for you.

1) You’re not going to get it the first day. Or, maybe you do! Maybe your skill instantly clicks and it just flows seamlessly. If so, thats incredible! If not, and like most people, you wont just instantly become good at your craft. It takes work- Consistant drilling of new tricks, showing up and practicing, and when it clicks, it clicks. That moment of joy when you nail that trick on stage that you’ve been training makes it worth all of the work behind the scenes.

2) Dont compare yourself to others. We can sit here and play the comparison game for days. Theres always someone who can one-up you. But theres no one that can do what you do, like you. Being unique is the best part of your craft!

3) Do it for you. At the end of the day, the social media engagement, the content, the gigs… they dont matter. I Started doing flow arts as a release. When nothing around me made sense, I would pick up my hoop and just flow. Then everything started to work itself out. As long as you are doing your craft for the pure love of it, everything will fall into place. So, just make sure to do it for you.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Whether you are a fellow flow artist in fire, aerial or whatever, a company looking to hire, or photo/videographer looking to shoot, I’m always looking for collaboration!

I’m based in Denver but I am willing to travel. Reach out on any of my socials and lets make some magic 🙂
