Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Dadds. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stephanie, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My journey to finding my purpose was shaped by both my patients and my own health struggles. I began my career in exercise science and research, where I gained a deep understanding of disease prevention and the impact that lifestyle changes can have on both physical and mental health. While this work was inspiring, I felt limited in my ability to create real change. I soon realized that to truly help people, I needed to take a more direct role in patient care.
This realization led me to pursue a career in nursing. I enrolled in a nursing program, became a Registered Nurse, and later advanced my training to become a Nurse Practitioner. With my background in exercise science and nutrition, I understood that prevention is the most effective way to combat chronic disease. Naturally, I gravitated toward primary care, believing it would allow me to help patients take control of their health.
However, I quickly discovered that the conventional healthcare model left little room for preventive care. My days were spent addressing acute issues and managing medication refills, with minimal time to focus on the root causes of my patients’ symptoms. It was frustrating to watch them struggle with worsening health while feeling like I lacked the tools to make a meaningful difference.
At the same time, I was dealing with my own unresolved health issues. This personal experience, combined with my professional frustrations, led me to seek additional training in functional medicine. For the first time, I felt equipped with the knowledge and tools to help patients achieve true healing by addressing the root causes of their health concerns.
Since making this shift, I’ve witnessed incredible transformations in my clients’ health, and I am deeply grateful for the trust they place in me. Helping people heal and regain their well-being is truly my passion, and I am honored to guide them on their journey to better health.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Stephanie Dadds Functional Wellness, where I serve as a health consultant for women struggling with gut health and digestive issues. I specialize in conditions such as IBS, IBD, SIBO, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, acid reflux/GERD, skin rashes, acne, and gallbladder dysfunction.
My approach is distinctly different from conventional medicine. I take the time to deeply understand each client’s habits, mindset, nutrition, exercise, and environment, while also utilizing functional medicine labs to uncover the root causes of their symptoms. This personalized, holistic approach allows me to create effective, sustainable strategies for healing.
It is incredibly rewarding to witness the transformations my clients experience. Seeing women regain their health, confidence, and sense of control over their well-being makes my work truly fulfilling.
I offer a range of personalized packages tailored to each client’s unique needs, always striving to meet them where they are and provide the level of support they require.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three skills that have had the greatest impact on my journey are time management, resilience, and adaptability.
Learning to manage my time effectively after becoming my own boss has been one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced. Balancing deep focus, creative work, and client care—while also navigating the responsibilities of motherhood—requires intentional planning. I’ve learned to time block and structure my days to ensure I can focus on what truly matters. Prioritization is essential, and my daily focus can shift quickly depending on client needs, backend operations, or whether I’m creating something new.
Resilience has also been a key factor in my journey. Entrepreneurship comes with both incredible highs and challenging lows. The ability to bounce back from setbacks and find lessons in every challenge has been crucial. Without resilience, many people wouldn’t keep pushing forward—but I’ve learned to embrace the ups and downs as part of the process.
Finally, adaptability has been critical to my growth. My business has evolved significantly since I first launched, and I’ve had to refine my offers to best serve my clients. By listening to their feedback and understanding their struggles, I’ve been able to create solutions that truly meet their needs. I view my work as a partnership with my clients and am always willing to adapt to ensure they receive the best possible support.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Without a doubt, mentorship has been the most valuable factor in my growth. While it’s possible to navigate challenges alone, having guidance from someone who has already achieved what I aspire to has been the key to accelerating my success. I’ve learned from mentors in clinical practice, business and marketing, and mindset—each playing a crucial role in shaping my journey. Without their support, I wouldn’t be as far along in my business, nor would I have had the confidence to branch out on my own.
