We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie Fu. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.
Hi Stephanie, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
I think burnout is often a sign of imbalance. When I found myself unable to change the external factors causing stress, I focused on shifting my own perspective. After the birth of my second child, I experienced parental burnout. In response, I adopted a minimalistic approach to parenting, which was transformative.
This shift not only helped me manage burnout but also taught me that having fewer things created mental space for everyone in the family to be more creative and thrive. With less stimulation, we were able to connect more deeply, which becomes the backbone philosophy of Biggest Little.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the founder of Biggest Little, a design-focused and sustainable children’s brand with a mission to rethink and redefine toys. Our goal is to infuse thoughtful design into playable objects. We believe that toys, like any cherished object, should reflect the values, beliefs, and tastes of the families—both the Bigs and Littles—who choose them. Too often, parents feel torn between toys that are good for their kids and those that align with their aesthetic values. At Biggest Little, we bridge that gap by creating products that nurture a child’s growth while resonating with the values of modern parents.
Our flagship product, b is for ball™, is the perfect example of this vision. It grows with your child, is easy to clean for parents, stylish enough to complement any home, and eco-friendly for the planet. Exciting things are on the horizon at Biggest Little. We’re collaborating with talented artists to develop innovative, playable objects, set to launch mid-next year. Plus, we’re expanding our palette with new colors, bringing even more vibrancy to our collection.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
hardworking, relentless, creative-thinking
I believe in the importance of continually seeking both what I am passionate about and what I excel at. These may evolve as I grow. I’ve always been drawn to design and the intriguing shapes, forms, architecture, and natural elements that inspire it. Pursuing what I’m passionate about gives my work purpose and drives me to be both hardworking and relentless in achieving my goals. I view creative thinking as more of a science than an art—it requires practice, discipline, and a willingness to challenge boundaries. Thanks to my parents’ emphasis on making my own decisions, I’ve gained valuable years of experience in reasoning through, and occasionally challenging, my own decisions and perspectives. I believe this has provided excellent practice in both critical thinking and creative thinking, for which I am very grateful.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of improvement this year has been learning how to listen to feedback, especially how to do so without rushing to judgment or letting it influence me immediately. Instead, I practice taking the time to sit with it, engage in a dialogue between the feedback and my core beliefs, and then adapt accordingly. Do I feel emotional about certain feedback? Absolutely! But I’ve made progress in creating space between receiving feedback and making decisions, which I believe is good skill to acquire.
