Meet Stephanie Goodwin

We recently connected with Stephanie Goodwin and have shared our conversation below.

Stephanie, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
It used to really bother me, it took me years to start my youtube channel because I was terrified of what my peers would think of me. But I think you have to get to the point where you realize life is far too short and you’ll never be able to please everyone. I learned that I had to stand strong in doing what felt right for me and what ultimately made me happy. At the end of the day people are going to talk either way, wouldn’t you rather be chasing your own happiness and doing something you love instead of staying stagnant in something you don’t find fulfilling?

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a 28 year old fashion and lifestyle content creator based in Tampa, FL. As an entrepreneur I am always focused on building my brand and striving to become better than I was. I have been in the industry for about 3 years now and have watched as social media has evolved over time and I’ve had to learn to evolve with it. Content creation is my biggest passion and I’ve had the pleasure of having amazing opportunities presented to me since moving to Florida a year ago. My most recent project was getting to act for the first time in an independent film called “Eidolon” that should be out in a few months. It was a small role, but it was honestly such a fun and amazing experience and I can’t wait to see the finished project!

Content creation is such a broad term for what I do. To narrow it down, I do some influencing on my Instragram and Youtube accounts and I also do UGC (User Generated Content) which is when a brand hires you to make content for them to run as paid ads on their social media accounts. I love the creative aspect of content creation and getting to bring a product to life through videos and photos and I also love the freedom it allows since I create my own schedule. But I definitely think my favorite part of what I do is getting to connect with people from all over the world. It brings me so much joy to hear about how I inspired someone to start their own social media journey, or to just hear about their live’s and chat about things that may have resonated with them. I love the aspect of being completely authentic and having a community that relates to me and my life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Adaptability, consistency and discipline. In the world of social media, things are always changing so it’s important to be able to adapt to the constant changes of social media platforms. They’re always introducing new features and the quicker you are to adapt to these changes, the better.

Social media never stops, so being consistent with posting (in my opinion) is the most important quality to have when it comes to being a content creator. It allows your content to be pushed out more by the platforms you’re using which provides better reach to new accounts that don’t follow you yet. Creating a posting schedule will be your best friend if you’re trying to get started in this industry!

And thirdly, discipline is probably the hardest skill to have. You need to be on top of your work and make sure you stick to your schedules, whether it be your posting schedule or scheduling out the content creation process. Meeting deadlines and staying organized is so important for your followers and the brands you are partnering with.

In the end, these qualities are truly so important to have in any entrepreneurial role, not just content creation.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to partner with new brands and collaborate with similar, like-minded content creators! I also am always up for collaborating with photographers as well.
