We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanie Hull a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I’m not sure you ever get over imposter syndrome. You learn how to tell yourself why you belong where you are. It has taken many years to feel confident in myself and my skills. I have worked hard and feel it is ok to celebrate that.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My teaching partner and I are starting a new micro Montessori school in downtown Nashville. We feel that Montessori should be accessible to all children and families regardless of income. Margaret and I are working diligently to find ways to help make that possible. We have created a tiered tuition model and try our best to work with families. Although we are a small school, we hope our model catches on and other schools in the area do the same thing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Having a trusted partner has made all the difference. Without her, I think this journey would be impossible. You also need the support of family and friends. There are so many days when you doubt yourself and what you are doing. You need people around you to keep cheering you on and reminding you that what you are doing is going to make a difference.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We are always looking for community partners. You’ve heard the phrase “it takes a village”, it truly takes a supportive community to do what we are doing. Community partners help in so many ways, whether its through donations, volunteering, or just hyping up our school. Everything helps.
