Meet Stephanie Nunn

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie Nunn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.

Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
As a profound visually impaired person, life can be challenging. From getting out of bed to being a part of life! I respect the basic senses! If one is challenged the others will be able to showcase life outstandingly! I depend on my other 4 basic senses! They allow me to be creative! I have inner vision that isn’t justified by many as a basic senses. I’m my mind it’s the “smoking gun”!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Stephanie Nunn. Designer of The Nadira Collection. I have a Masters Degree in Public Administration. I work in a consultancy format for persons in need of assistance with corporate development. Within my diverse portfolio, I live as a profound visually impaired person. I was born with a degenerative disease which developed to other conditions. Despite the struggles I still prevail to put great effort to succeed! I try to not let my struggles with vision issues get in the way of my abilities. Design, Fashion and Art are a part of my soul! I live and breathe it ALL! It’s a part of my daily routine! I am on the Executive Board of Prevent Blindness, Ohio Affiliates. I try to ensure all know that their vision matters!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
It is important to focus on your goals. Despite your challenges, be prepared to work! Don’t always feel you must lead with your challenges versus your successes or goals! My challenges were a mask! You didn’t see it! It was viewed as an “invisible disability”. I used it to by advantage! But when it was obvious I realized it’s okay to share! I can be a testimony of this life as a person who is visually impaired and can see artistic expression!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
My book!!! I am launching my memoirs, November, 2023! It allowed me to look at my life and reflect. To own areas that had me bound, embarrassed, scared and blessed! It will help others that have been at the bottom and can RIZE!
