We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie Rose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.
Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I never put a cap on how much creativity I let in. I’m always allowing my mind to venture to strange places, to see what kind of stories & characters I can come up with. I write down everything that blossoms in my mind, and feed those ideas until they become something I can create an entire story with. Then I get EXCITED about that story.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m an indie author of historical fiction & Greek mythology horror, as well as a Wattpad Creator & Originals author of steamy romance. I also dabble in paranormal/spooky stories & fantasy tales.
I love writing. I love giving life to stories and characters that dwell in my mind. And I love sharing those with others, taking them on adventures, giving them all kinds of emotions.
My works often center around strong women, LGBTQIA+ folk (I’m pansexual/ace spectrum myself), and complicated relationships. I’m obsessed with mythology & European royalty (especially British) & spooky TV shows like Supernatural and Ghost Adventures.
I’m working on the 2nd book in my historical romance series, and am hoping to do some local author events in the coming months.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Perseverance, willingness to learn/improve my craft, a touch of patience. Please, don’t give up. Learn all you can, ask for help/recommendations, and keep pushing towards your goals. Be vulnerable, but don’t think that all the rules apply to you. Take widespread advice with a grain of salt.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I take a step back from whatever I’m working on. Take a breath, focus my energy on something else; usually something relaxing, like watching a TV show or movie, going for a walk, playing a gentle video game. Reading, too, and/or listening to music and unwinding. And I do this for as long as I need to, until I feel motivated and ready to resume my work.
