Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Scarbeck-Brand. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Stephanie, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from the challenges I’ve faced in the beauty industry. At a very young age, I had to learn that not everyone who smiles at you has your best interest at heart. I crossed paths with people who used me for my looks, my personality, even my following and that was not easy to process. But each time I was knocked down, I found a way to stand back up stronger. Those experiences taught me how to rely on myself, trust my own vision, and keep moving forward no matter who doubted me or tried to take advantage of me.
On top of that, I’ve always had to work hard to get where I am. There were times I was working three or four jobs at once just to fund a class, pay for training, or invest in something that would take me to the next level. I never looked at it as a setback I saw it as part of my path. Every sacrifice and every long day was fuel pushing me closer to my dream.
That’s where my resilience comes from knowing that setbacks don’t define me, they refine me, and hard work is the bridge between where I was and where I knew I could go.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My story really started in the treatment room as an esthetician, where I fell in love with helping people feel confident in their own skin. But what I realized along the way is that I was just as passionate about helping other beauty professionals grow as I was about serving my clients.
That path wasn’t easy. I had many setbacks along the way I made bad investments, I trusted the wrong people, and I let others convince me that starting a business with them would be the best decision of my life, when it turned out to be the worst. I also had people in the beauty industry try to break me down at a very young age, for absolutely no reason. And to be honest, aesthetic school never taught me how to run a business no one did.
It wasn’t until I started investing in myself getting the right training, guidance, and support that things shifted. That’s when I began to truly understand my business and how to build it in a way that not only supported me financially, but gave me the freedom and balance I wanted. Those lessons, as hard as they were, changed everything.
Now, I run The Skin Jeanie Inc., where I coach solo estheticians, med spa owners, and beauty professionals who are ready to grow their businesses, attract more clients, and create balance in their lives. What’s most exciting about the work I do is watching the transformation not just in their bank accounts, but in their confidence. I get to see estheticians go from overwhelmed and burnt out to booked out, balanced, and thriving, and that lights me up every single time.
What makes my brand special is that I’ve lived every struggle my clients face. I know what it feels like to be stuck, undercharging, working long hours, and wondering if you’ll ever get ahead. That’s why my coaching isn’t just about strategy it’s about real guidance, accountability, and the belief that you can have the business and the life you dream of.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding my signature coaching program, The Jeanie Effect, and continuing to grow The Jeanie Room, which is my community for beauty professionals who want ongoing support and connection. I’m also in the process of building out more resources, tools, and events that make business growth simple and achievable for estheticians at every level. And I also have started FREE in person meet ups for support and community!
At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to empower beauty professionals to step into their full potential, build businesses they’re proud of, and finally experience the freedom and abundance they deserve.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were resilience, resourcefulness, and a willingness to invest in myself.
Resilience was huge because this industry can test you. I had people doubt me, try to break me down, and I made mistakes that could have stopped me in my tracks. But resilience is what kept me moving forward no matter what.
Resourcefulness came from the fact that no one taught me how to run a business. Aesthetic school didn’t prepare me for marketing, branding, or finances I had to figure it out. I worked three or four jobs at a time just to fund a class, buy products, or invest in opportunities that would move me forward. That taught me how to use what I had and make it work.
And most importantly, investing in myself changed everything. I had made bad investments early on, trusted the wrong people, and thought others would lead me to success. The real turning point came when I stopped outsourcing my future to others and started putting my time, money, and energy into learning the skills I needed to grow my own business.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this: don’t wait for someone to hand you the blueprint go create it. Develop resilience by reminding yourself that setbacks are lessons, not failures. Build resourcefulness by using what you have right now, even if it’s not perfect. And invest in yourself unapologetically, whether that’s through education, coaching, or tools that will help you grow. That’s how you set the foundation for a career that actually lasts.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely I believe collaboration is one of the most powerful ways to create impact. I’m always looking to partner with people and organizations who share a mission of empowering beauty professionals and helping them grow, whether that’s through education, resources, or opportunities.
That could look like collaborating with salon suite owners who want to bring more support and training to their renters, product lines that align with my brand and want to partner on education or events, or other industry leaders who are passionate about making the business side of beauty less overwhelming and more accessible.
I also love collaborating outside the industry with wellness brands, mental health advocates, or community leaders because I know the success of a beauty professional isn’t just about business, it’s about balance, mindset, and lifestyle too.
If you’re reading this and you’re excited about the idea of partnering, I’d love to connect. The best way is to reach out through my Instagram @theskinjeanie_
or through my website theskinjeanie.com
I’m always open to a conversation about how we can come together to support and uplift the beauty community.
