Meet Stephanie

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephanie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

Coming from humble beginnings I know first hand how it feels to not have enough, or the experience of having to go without. Since I seen first hand how hard some parents or caregivers struggled to provide , I always had compassion for others and always offered or shared whatever I had. Throughout the years I began keeping clothing and waters in my car to pass out for whenever I see someone who could use it . As i grew older the attempts and dreams of helping continued to grow . Recently, I had the honor of forming my own non profit organization which is now flourishing into a community resource and has been such a beautiful experience.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I have worked with the elderly community for the past 16 years. Being raised by my grandmother really made me appreciate the time spent learning from our elders. Along with running the non profit , which is aimed to bridge gaps within our communities. We do so by helping individuals access resources that can aid them during their hardships. We also promote the development of self sufficiency, through our assistance with resumes, mock interviews & job search. It has been so special holding space for those in our community and we are very thankful for every kind soul and helping hand we have encountered.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three skills i took away from my struggles were work ethic, a can do attitude and the strengthening of my faith. I feel those 3 things have and will carry me through life.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We at A brighter day, are beyond grateful for the community members that have helped us embark on our mission and we are always looking to partner up and also see how we can be of support. Our favorite part of this journey has been the experience of community. Together we can go further.
