Meet Stephen & Giselle Jiroch

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Stephen & Giselle with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
We get our work ethic from our parents inspiring us at a young age! Giselle’s mom was a travel agent, so she constantly would travel to meet with clients, worked multiple jobs to put her 3 kids through school, and was a single mom that really showed her kids what hard work was about. Giselle’s mom, Jill, inspired Giselle to work hard from a young age and instilled a love for travel inside her. Stephen was taught that the hardest worker in the room is the most successful one from his dad. Stephen’s dad was in the Marine Corps, and Stephen’s mom was a small business owner, so they both showed was discipline and consistency can accomplish in the world. Our parents taught us to work hard and give everything our all from a young age, and we think that is why The Lovers Passport is so successful!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
We are Giselle and Stephen, also known as The Lovers Passport, and we are an adventure travel couple that turned our love for travel into a full time business. The two of us met at a college birthday party in December 2018, and within 1 week we did our first sunrise hike together. We learned very quickly that both of us had a love for travel and adventure, so we began road tripping around the southwest of the USA until COVID happened. Once COVID hit, Stephen was teaching Martial Arts from his living room over Zoom, and Giselle was working as a marketing director for the couch, so we decided we needed a new side hustle! We bought a camera off Amazon, and started learning everything that we could about photography. After lockdown, we continued to travel, and started to post pictures of our travels online! One thing led to another, and now we have over, 750k followers across platforms. Our goal is to inspire other people to stop waiting until they are old and retired to go out and travel, but to start traveling as much as you can now, and make traveling a part of your entire life! We think our account is special because we inspire and teach other couples to travel together and highlight unique destinations all around the world for them to visit. Recently, we started a new page as well called The Creator Passport, where we give tips about how to turn your side hustle into a full time business through photography!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back over the past 4 years, we think the three qualities that impacted our journey the most are consistency, competitiveness, and authenticity, Consistency helps a lot, and we like to say it is like going to the gym. If you go to the gym 1 time a week, you will never see the results you want, but if you go every single day, the results will come 100x faster. That is also very similar about going to the gym for 1 month a year every day, you will never have the results you want, compared to if you went to the gym 3 times a week for the entire year. Competitiveness gives us the drive we need to be consistent! Every day, we would compete to have the best pictures, post the best content, reach the largest views, and that drive to be the best every day really helped us stay motivated in the beginning of our journey when it was the hardest. Lastly, authenticity with our audience was huge for us, and we think it led to a lot of our success as well! We would share the beautiful moments on our travels, but also the “reality” moments when everything went well. Over the past few years, our top performing posts are the “Instagram vs reality” moments that show our audience we are being authentic and not trying to put ourselves on any pedestal. If I had a quote to tell someone who is early in their journey, it would be that this is a marathon, not a sprint! Do not burn yourself out in the beginning, but stick in it for the long haul!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Currently, we are looking to expand our team and partner with other creators! We have a team of 6 people, but you can only impact and help so many people with a team of six. Our goal is to help change other people’s lives, by teaching them what we were able to do in three years, and helping them achieve this life as well! Currently we are looking for people to work with that know how to do photography/videography, love to travel, would rather be hiking up a mountain for sunrise than laying in bed, and that are flexible to travel with us and create some awesome content! They can get ahold of us by emailing [email protected] or shooting us a DM @theloverspassport
