Meet Stephen Howard Tucker

We were lucky to catch up with Stephen Howard Tucker recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephen Howard, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout

Along my journey as a business owner and filmmaker, I’ve learned that burnouts can be fatal. It’s important to create healthy habits and routines that will maximize your success even when you have low energy. This year I finished a feature film, while juggling multiple commercial projects and a busy family life. The only way I was able to avoid complete burnout this year, despite my lack of proper rest, was maintaining my healthy routines, particularly my diet and a positive state of mind. The motto in my family is “food is medicine”. The industrial food system has taken our nutrition away and it truly takes a mindful approach to maintain optimal nutrition, while avoiding toxicity. Pure water is fundamentally important. I drink a gallon of water a day to detox and maintain healthy hydration, but that might be way too much for others, as I’m a big guy. I recommend investing in a home reverse osmosis water filtration system and to re-mineralize your own water at home. We all need to constantly detox in the toxic environments we live in these days. Personally, I swear by an organic, plant based, gluten-free, low sugar diet. That might not be practical for everybody though, but maintaining a healthy PH level in the body is something everyone can start to pay attention to. Disease and cancer thrives in an acidic environment. So learn tricks to push your body’s PH levels to the alkaline side of the scale to stay healthy and avoid burnout or sickness. Lemon water is a great starter tool to influence your body’s PH to be more alkalizing and can also boost your cellular millivoltage – literally the amount of energy in your cells. Doctors and scientists have found a correlation between the body’s PH scale and cellular charge. To bring this full circle, as an entrepreneur, or business owner, if you want to push yourself longer and harder every day, then you need the proper nutrition or you will burnout and get sick. So avoid processed foods and eat fresh, locally sourced, whole foods more often. Try to limit your electronics when possible, be mindful of EMF exposure, and don’t sleep right next to your phone. The other component is your mental health. Maintaining positivity, allowing for breaks and maintaining some sort of a meditation or creative routine is critical. Be honest with yourself about what you want, and what’s important in life because you are going to have to make sacrifices and some tough decisions. You need to stay grounded. Try your best to maintain a good attitude, and when you feel like you can’t keep a good attitude it’s probably time to just take a break. These are a few tips for overcoming and avoiding burnout while on your own personal journey.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I love cinema and storytelling. There is so much that goes into the art that people don’t see. This year I finished my very first feature film called, “HOLE IN THE WALL: The Ultimate Outlaw Fortress”. Hole-in-the-Wall was home to rustlers and outlaws in the late 1800’s in Johnson County, Wyoming. Local stories are told about outlaws like Butch Cassidy and the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. A perspective on the Johnson County War is revealed, while ancient Native American presence demonstrates the enduring spirit of the American West. So it’s really a film about this beautiful valley, the incredible, iconic American history that happened there, and how you can still go visit there today. The overall tagline or theme of the film is: “Anything that happened in any western, happened here first.” The film has been entered into multiple film festivals. My goal is to secure a distribution deal for the film to be placed on a major streaming platform for global audiences to enjoy. So hopefully by the end of 2026 the public will be able to see the film on their favorite streaming platform!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The 3 most important qualities to develop on your journey is a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and solid communication skills. If you are going to be successful on your journey, then you need to learn how to maintain a positive attitude. Developing good communication skills while learning to maintain a positive attitude will help you become more appealing, and more efficient. Lastly, if you are going to complete your journey, then you will need a strong work ethic to get it done!

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

Currently I am in the process of planning 3 new documentary film projects. The toughest challenge is coming up with all of the key ingredients to produce great films. These challenges include, but are not limited to identifying key partners, sponsors, consultants, interviewees, actors, location logistics, historical or industrial research, insurance hurdles, permit requirements, equipment upgrades, grant applications, fundraisers, writing scope of works, designing pitch decks, making budgets, and not to mention, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars before any filming. If your vision or your dream is important enough, then overcoming these little practical obstacles along your journey will work itself out. It’s hard to remember that sometimes, but I try my best to maintain a positive perspective and see the bigger picture.
