Meet Stephen Love-wade

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephen Love-wade. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Stephen, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

It all comes from my mom, Carolyn. My mom had me at 40 years old and from then till retirement at 71 she’s always had two jobs working around 60 hours a week but still making time for the things that mattered. It’s hard to make excuses when you have that example as your foundation for what hard work looks like. There’s some lines between the work/life balance in todays society but by anyone’s standards, she’s a hell of a worker. I find myself saying I’m tired from time to time at the age of 31 and just imagine how my mom felt at 45 with me as a 5 year old, that’s wild. I constantly give her her flowers for setting that example.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

“What I do” is kinda cool nowadays. I’ve loved running for the past 8 years and wanted to break into the running industry in a role that made me feel like I was impactful yet having fun. I recently took on a role as Field Marketing Rep for Swiftwick, a Nashville based performance sock company. In this role I partner with other run clubs and also run stores to promote the product and connect with people on a personal level. I feel like it’s so important to have a strong and diverse network and this only amplifies that. Aside from that I run the day to day for 6RUN5 run club here in Nashville. Each day is different; some days I’m working on new digital assets for the club, some days I’m helping with our half marathon training program or even working with brands to help set up events and activations.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

It’s hard to pick but I believe determination, kindness and being personable brought me the farthest on this journey. Those 3 feel like the most impactful traits when you’re overseeing a group of over 200 folks at times.

As far as advice, never be too cool to ask questions. Never be too cool to reach out. You’d be amazed at who you cross paths with along the way and how the oaths will eventually meet again somehow.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes! I love connecting dots and people whenever I can, that’s how this interview came along actually. In regards to “who”, I want to connect with people that do work with community or folks of totally different backgrounds. 6RUN5 and Folx Table are unique in the sense that there’s so much diversity but everybody comes to our events for that common goal. Whatever that may be. So anybody community and people based or even fitness based, i’d love to connect at [email protected]
