Meet Stephnie Green

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephnie Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephnie below.

Stephnie, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Contrary to what is considered as the ‘norm’ for a lot creatives and/or entrepreneurs, I didn’t have to do much work to find my purpose. I always say it has lived within me innately since childhood. My struggle really was embracing that purpose.
When asked what it is, my answer is always simple, “empowering and helping other women to feel and be their best selves.”
I have always been a Jill of many trades; marketing, graphic designing, logistics, entrepreneurship, event planning planning, you name it, but one thing I was always adamant about was being able to work for myself. And in following my entrepreneurship journey, nothing resonated with me like being in a field like this to help women ‘feel pretty’.
before becoming a wax therapist, I used to make lip care products for persons with sensitive skin, this allowed me to really connect with who I believe I always was and walk in that purpose with meaning, now that I have found another avenue, it has just strengthened my will to remain in this field and make it work because I believe the work I do is greater than just putting food on a table, and that is really made me embrace this avenue/“purpose.”

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a wax therapist; providing full body services for women and what I would say is the most special part about it would be connecting with different women from different backgrounds and having like a ‘reverse uno’ effect when some of these women end up empowering me.
The Wax Sanctuary is a space that was carefully curated for the comfort of women, so it’s really a ‘no men allowed’ space because as women certain experiences tend to be ruined when we are in certain spaces with men, I wanted to ensure that my clients would always feel comfortable coming to my space knowing that they won’t be uncomfortable hearing a man’s voice in the waiting area. Does this mean men shouldn’t be offered the same hospitality? Absolutely not, however, one of my favorite sayings is that “two things can be true at once” and while men definitely deserve this luxury, women also tend to feel uncomfortable doing certain things around them, and the latter was more important to me who has suffered numerous harassment from men just going about my daily life. So my space removes any and all possibilities of this recurrence while simultaneously giving my clients an avenue to truly be themselves.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Patience, adaptability and money management. To better develop and/or improve on these skills, you must be willing to come face to face with a different reality if you’re as estranged as I was with these things.
Patience grows when you learn to pause before reacting, take a breath, slow down, and let things unfold and materialize without rushing or constantly interfering.
Adaptability comes from letting go of control and viewing change as an opportunity, not a threat; try small shifts daily to build flexibility, this is very important in not just business, but your daily life as well.
Money management improves with awareness; track your spending (do that budget and stick to it!), set simple goals, and save automatically, even in small amounts because you need to be intentional with your resources.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My partner, he’s even the one who pushed me to just take the leap and develop this idea. I was in Italy nervous about it especially because at the time I didn’t see how my ideas would be brought to fruition, but he’s held my hand every step of the way and ensured that even if mistakes were made, they weren’t detrimental and I’d be able and equipped to properly pivot from them.
Honorable mention to my sister, Jamila, because even though she’s not with me physically, she’s also been a guiding rock for me throughout this entire journey.
