Meet Steve Morrow

We recently connected with Steve Morrow and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
By failing over and over again. I started learning Judo as a kid. My first randoris results were less than optimal, about 5 seconds into it I found myself flipped through the air and looking up at the ceiling. After getting back up and shaking off the embarrassment of losing, I also found in myself a commitment to learn and to do better. My sensei, Sensei Tinaza always told us to walk with our heads held high and to be proud of who and what we are. Confidence for me came from bouncing back from the loses. From learning the lessons and committing to do better next time. Through trial and error success eventually becomes inevitable if you refuse to give up.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Steve Morrow and I am private detective. Every day for me is not the same. It vacillates between moments of excitment, and moments of sheer boredom. With that being said, in my chosen profession one thing is certain, what I do helps. It helps change peoples circumstances and can help people obtain peace of mind, or at least help them start their journey of healing.

I own Morrow Detective Agency, a private investigation firm that primarily works for law firms. We have the privelege of working Family Law, Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, and other types of cases. We have been in business since 2011 and have worked on a variety of cases that have allowed us to grow and to help maniy of our clients.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me the ability to communicate and learn to accept people for who they are and where they are in life has helped me in my profession. Being able to talk to people and genuinely care about their circumstances has gotten me through many doors that were slammed in other investigators faces. Being persistent is another quaility that is of benefit. Not giving up just because something isn’t going the way that you had hoped or expected it to. In my opinion a great investigator will continue to pursue the facts, the answers, for the results until there are no more leads or roads to go down. Another quality that helps is knowing who you are, being centered and knowing who you are is extremely helpful, because you may find yourself in situations that are against your upbringing, political beliefs, religous values, and you may find yourself being questioned about what you believe in or how could you be doing this? Knowing yourself and staying true to that knowlege will always help you prevail.

Know your own strengths, the things that make you uniquely yourself first. After that go and get the neccessary book knowledge and real life experience to help you become that which you hope to be.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I have had a few mentors that have impacted me and helped me along the way. Dale Gustafson who is another investigator used to teach at Nick Harris Detective Academy and after I obtained my license always made his time and resources available to me. He didn’t just show me the investigative aspects of it, he also showed me the business aspects. Dale always has a way of making the work seem exciting, of thinking outside of the box.

Melissa Lunn was another investigator who gave me opportunities to grow, she showed me how to take statements, how to strategize cases, and also how to get things done. She encouraged me to go out and start my own firm.

Mitch Seflin another investigator showed me how to do surveillance on a whole different, he taught me how to look for resources in my environment, how to hide in plain sight, and how to obtain information.

All of these folks contributed to my knowledge and experience in different ways, find some good mentors, ask questions, don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
