Meet Steve Oniya, Cfp®, Chfc®, Mba

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steve Oniya, Cfp®, Chfc®, Mba a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Steve, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

Personally, I utilize what the OM Investments summer newsletter, https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/achieving-life-finance-goals-7081793498080804864/ , forewarned. I start every day essentially with fruit and green or oolong tea with lemon or lime. And typically end the day with yogurt, fiber, and fruit. Not only does research show these items can help with stress, but practically all of those items help with weight loss as well

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences. I can relate. As a financial mentor, international traveler, Certified Financial Planner® certificant and financial industry veteran, I love educating and inspiring people to achieve their goals, relieve stress, and be more financially free.

Welcome to the OM Investments’ Achieving Life and Personal Finance Goals newsletter. Where we cover the meat and potatoes of financial literacy… as well as the fruits, vegetables, beverages, and sweets + (No seriously. We literally covered those aspects for an holistic life planning approach). Bon Appétit! https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/achieving-life-finance-goals-7081793498080804864/

I enjoy sharing easy to understand thought leadership to help you with life, business, art, personal finance, community & more.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Adaptability, learning ability, and strategizing. This has resulted from or has given me the following:

Stocks/Investment skills, Education or Genius perspectives. Experiences and Habits (application and fine tuning [growth] )

People should seek credible resources and paths that can increase their success and happiness. Balance and assess your strengths and weaknesses against your opportunities and threats.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I think both aspects are important. Learn from mistakes. Improve the areas you can get better at. Also focus and hone in on your strengths you’re passionate about. The areas you are not passionate about or don’t have the motivation or time, it may be better off to let a person passionate in that area help you.
