Meet Steven

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Steven a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

As an active professional basketball player having played in some of the top leagues in Spain and England, working as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and having experience as a Certified Brain coach, I picked up a fair amount of knowledge on my journey. When I was 16 and ranked as one of the top High School players in Southern California, I came to a realization that I was meant for more, I had so much more potential than just being an athlete. This was when I decided to start Precise Training, I had the intention to give back to the community that had once raised me. I knew if I could be a small part of someone’s journey it would fill me with joy and gratitude.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m more than just a professional athlete, i’m a persona trainer as well, I work with kids and teach them the skills it took me years to learn, I work with Adult Fitness clients and find ways to help them achieve the goals they have set for themselves. I’m in the Business of helping people and I LOVE IT!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think there’s only one right answer which is Resiliency, having the ability to overcome adversity and keep getting up over and over again, error after error and you just keep showing up, that’s the key secret to anything in life, sports, business, relationships. Resiliency is how you make things happen even when nobody else believes in you!

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

Definitely watching my Mom was one of the most impactful things in my life. Growing up without a Dad, seeing the sacrifices my Mom would make for me, were truly inspiring and have led my drive to want to give back to the community that raised me. At the time I was Naive to how much she bent over backwards for me, but now being an Adult, I see clearly the sacrifices my mother made to put me in a position to win were one of a kind, thank you Mama!
