Meet Steven Morris

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Steven Morris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Steven below.

Steven , so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?

My self-discipline originated in high school, specifically during my junior and senior years, when I established a morning routine that included weightlifting and swimming before classes. This commitment stemmed from my desire to enhance my strength for baseball, prompting me to adhere to a rigorous weight training program.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I have an avid passion for health and wellness combined with an extensive experience working with individuals on behavior modification and fitness awareness.

My expertise extends far beyond personal training. With a strong foundation in Exercise Science and Nutrition, I hold prestigious certifications from The Cooper Institute and CrossFit, empowering individuals to unlock their full potential.

With two decades of experience, my approach to fitness is to inspire transformative growth in individuals from all walks of life, including stay-at-home moms, corporate leaders, athletes, and elite military personnel.

As a Veteran, I previously served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy.

I own and operate Franklin Personal Fitness in Franklin, TN, a private studio that focuses on one-on-one personal training.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My aunt Trish encouraged me to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. At the time, she was a Kinesiology professor at Lipscomb University.

My degree has helped my career tremendously, but my military service developed invaluable leadership skills.

My advice to young trainers is to develop your sales skills and be yourself; you can have all the knowledge in the world, but people won’t hire you without a good personality.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents instilled a good work ethic and independence, enabling me to “think on my feet.”

Small business ownership comes with challenges and constant change, demanding adaptability and the ability to overcome obstacles.
