Meet Steven Salgado

We were lucky to catch up with Steven Salgado recently and have shared our conversation below.

Steven, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Working is my primary means of keeping my creativity alive. As an artist, I engage in projects that continually inspire me. I particularly love being involved in theater or film projects, as they not only fuel my creativity but also give me a sense of vitality

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I work as both an actor and a filmmaker. As an actor, I find joy in participating in various theater productions. Simultaneously, I run a video production company catering to art companies, assisting in the creation of promotional videos. Moreover, I pursue my own audiovisual projects within this realm.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Studying holds immense significance, whether it’s within a formal institution like a university or school, through workshops, empirical exploration, tutorials, masterclasses, or workshots. For me, the act of studying has remained constant and essential. Concurrently, engaging in artistic work runs parallel to my studies. There’s no substitute for hands-on experience; the best lessons often arise from practical application.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Tao Te Ching is such a humble and wise book that I often find myself rereading it as time passes, knowing it will always reveal something new to me. From this book, I gather that if you surrender to the path, the path will unfold naturally for you.
