We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stevy Montgomery. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stevy below.
Hi Stevy, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
My discipline comes from a deep understanding that nothing changes if nothing changes. I’ve experienced firsthand what it feels like to be stuck: physically, mentally, emotionally and I never want to go back there. So every time I show up for myself, it’s a reminder that the small, daily choices matter more than motivation ever will. Discipline, for me, isn’t about being perfect, it’s about keeping promises to myself, especially when it’s uncomfortable. Quitting is not an option for me
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a fat loss and strength coach, and I’ve been coaching for about 8 years. It started with helping family and friends, then grew into group training, 1:1 coaching, and eventually fully online through COVID. That shift opened doors, leading me to work with WarriorBabe and become a Legionnaire with 1stPhorm through the impact of client transformations and social media.
My passion is helping women reconnect with their personal power, feel confident in the gym, and stop chasing the number on the scale. I coach through gym-based strength training and macro-based nutrition, focusing on body recomposition, building strength, muscle, and a body they love living in.
My motto is strong > skinny. What drives me is watching women realize they’re capable of so much more. Right now, I’m expanding my online programs and building out resources to help women create lasting change, even in real life’s chaos. There’s more to come, and I’m just getting started.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three most impactful things in my journey have been consistency, communication, and mindset.
Consistency: This one might sound obvious, but it’s everything. I didn’t get where I am because of one big moment. It was years of showing up, even when things weren’t perfect. For anyone starting out, don’t underestimate the power of small actions done daily. Just keep going. Messy action still moves you forward.
Communication: Whether it’s coaching clients or building a brand online, being able to connect, listen, and communicate clearly has been a game changer. You can have all the knowledge in the world, but if people don’t feel understood or supported, it won’t land. My advice is to lead with empathy and learn to speak to people, not at them.
Mindset: This one is huge. The inner work is just as important as the physical or business side. There were times I questioned myself, my path, and my progress, but building mental resilience helped me keep moving. For anyone starting out, protect your mindset. Surround yourself with people who challenge and uplift you, and don’t let fear of judgment keep you from growing.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been trusting myself more deeply, as a coach, as a leader, and in how I show up in life. I used to second-guess decisions or worry about doing things the “right” way, especially with so much noise online. But this past year, I really leaned into owning my voice, my style of coaching, and the impact I know I bring.
That shift has allowed me to coach with more clarity, create content that feels aligned, and hold stronger boundaries in both business and personal life. Growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet confidence that says, I’ve got this.
