Meet Storm Debarge

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Storm Debarge. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Storm below.

Hi Storm, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Without worth ethic you really can’t get anywhere. I grew up with parent as an addict who married a addict. I had to always figure out how to get on top of move forward. My worth ethic had to be perfect in all areas so I can go forward. I’ve been homeless, I’ve slept in a van with my family, I lived in a treatment facility with my mother. I did not want to be that when I got older! I knew I had to sharpen up my tools so I can get to where I wanted to be.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a professional movement artist who has been blessed to choreograph, perform, direct and more. I have the storm DeBarge foundation that focuses on the entertainment industry but in my way. I have kicked down several doors so I can create a healthy working environment for the inner city kids coming out of Los Angeles!

Dancing has brought me to several stages and sets, I’ve been blessed and grateful to have made connections so I can movement direct and direct music videos for big heads in the game that I grew up listening too.

Casting network has been going well I have been booking some of my mentees and fellow dancers I know on jobs as well so people can get the real authentic LA in their projects.

I also teach dance classes all over specifically clown dance / hip hop so people are more aware of that dance style.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Hard work dedication.

Protect your energy

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

I am going through my endometriosis. I really want to get a surgery so I don’t have to deal with it anymore. I want to see about more or a natural way but it has been my biggest challenge in my career because it does take me out atleast a week out of every month and it messed up with work.
