Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stormie Anderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Stormie , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
These are things that you have to really dig deep within yourself. As challenging as it might be but you have to sit witty yourself and understand who you truly are. You have to ask yourself where this lack of confidence and self-esteem comes from and work through it. This is not an overnight process and it can take years but it will be worth it in the end. Your confidence and self esteem can show up in many aspects of your life and can impact it for better or for worse it’s really up to you.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am Stormie Anderson, a registered nurse with 14 years of medical experience in ICU, long-term acute and wound care. I am also the owner of the #1 Medspa in the Metro Detroit area that aims to help people regain their confidence using non-invasive procedures. The services I render include one of the leading sellers in my spa such as the medical weight loss program with a proven success rate, liquid lipo shots which permanently dissolve fat of your desired area and IV Hydration which helps make sure you replenish your required vitamins. Aside from owning a medspa, I am a mentor to fellow spa professionals where I extend my knowledge and help them learn techniques and services through the courses I offer. if someone is interested in becoming a part of the beauty and aesthetic industry. As I started to expand my business in 2023 I have collaborated with another black women owned business in the Metro Detroit area. We have created an undisputed service title “The Experience”, which will combine some of my most popular services and some of her top rated garments to help mothers get back to feeling like themselves without going under the knife.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
From my experience, I would say consistency, mindset and exposure. These three qualities are things I had to develop and master in order for me to be where I am today. You shouldn’t start something whether it be a business or a new job and not position your mind to be in a positive headspace. Going into a new venture with a solid mentality could change the course of things for you and your journey. I advise you to really sit with yourself and prepare your mind. Consistency is also an important quality because when things don’t always go as planned and your days aren’t the same, you have to rely on your consistency especially when running a business. As a business owner you have to continuously make your business or practice a priority and give it your all everyday because if you don’t then your business will suffer. Lastly, exposure was a quality I struggled with and I had to learn as I go. Things will be trial and error until you start to see trends in your target audience as they engage with tactics you put in place. Advice I would give is it’s ok to go back to the drawing board and find something that works.
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
When it comes to running a business there are many areas that go into it. It can become exhausting with you trying to wear many hats. When first starting out to save your funds you might have to do everything yourself and learn new skills that you might not excel in. But as you grow, expand and increase your funds you can start outsourcing. There is nothing wrong with getting professional help from others. You want the best for your business and if that means hiring a graphic designer or virtual assistant then do what feels right for you. There is no right or wrong way because everyone is different.
