Meet Street Lamp

We were lucky to catch up with Street Lamp recently and have shared our conversation below.

Street Lamp , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

We believe we’ve built our confidence from the common ups and downs of regional music industry. The yes and nos from managers, promoters, venues and even fans has given us the ability to learn and build our confidence to pursue our goals with persistence and resilience. When we are feeling down about our craft, we often like to remind ourselves that the world is full of good and bad and that even Tom (Brady) had bad games! Without any bad times there would be no room to rebuild and learn from mistakes and realize that no one can do what we do how we do it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Crawling out of the creeks of San Antonio TX, Street Lamp aims to spread positive energy through their music and artistic works. The band strives to be great examples of what music and arts can be if great minds come together and try to break boundaries. Each member of Street Lamp has a different and unique upbringing with trials and tribulations that most everybody can relate to. Whether it be through songs, shows or videos the band loves to express themselves together and individually to give everybody a fresh and real experience when viewing or listening.

As of now, the band is focusing on recording an album and going on a small multi state tour to promote it towards the end of September. The band also likes to break their norm and work on social media posts such as photo shoots, “trippy” videos, or even personal life pov. The band also looks to do charity shows or work in the future.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Communication amongst your team and peers is crucial to keep things flowing effectively. Without communication ideas and priorities can easily get confused or misunderstood.

Confidence within yourself and your team is key to keep yourself going in a world of competitiveness and constant change.

Balance is most important. It’s easy to get lost in the work and burn yourself out. It’s important to remember when to take a break and enjoy the little things in life. It will help you stay on track and spark new ideas and emotions.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

Of course sticking to our strengths is best for performance but to grow and learn we like to dive into other genres and styles of music to reincorporate into our music we write, record and share.
We have recently found a rather small strength in style and fashion. Looking at our creative insights, we realized people like the way we style and look. We stepped out of our norm and let the creative mind of Abraham De La Rosa produce a photo shoot for us. Really gives off a Y2K type feel.
We love to embrace the challenge of something new.
